At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.
We are looking for a Modeling Simulation and Analysis Systems Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, MD. This position requires 100% on-site work.
What You Will Get to Do: As an integral member of the Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Section and the broader Systems Engineering team, you will accelerate delivery of capabilities to our customers through performance engineering, software integration, mission studies, system-of-system trades, and test activities that leverage credible modeling, simulation, experimentation, and analysis. You will apply MS&A techniques with a focus on systems and software performance analysis and Mission Engineering across all phases of radar systems engineering and mission operations to assess, validate, and optimize system, subsystem, and mission performance; interacting with IQ data from simulated and real-world collections, following it through the radar processing chain; and working closely with M&S, radar mode, and mission engineering teams to identify and resolve deficiencies in both modeled data, operational modes, and mission architectures that best deliver the effects, data, and capabilities demanded by tomorrow’s missions. • Perform performance-focused modeling and simulation on high-performance computing grids to evaluate and optimize system and subsystem behavior, perform analysis-of-alternatives and mission architecture trades across offensive and defensive orders of battle, formations, and equipment including laydowns, platforms, and loadouts of sensors, effectors, and weapons as well as communications, command, and control segments among combatants and the impacts of the tactics and strategies used; conduct trade studies; and generate systems engineering documents, reports, operational documentation, and mission analysis products.
• Utilize Modeling, Simulation, Experimentation, and Analysis (MSE&A) frameworks to support software integration, algorithm development, radar mode validation, and to evaluate Concepts of Employments (CONEMPS), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and Design Reference Missions (DRM) to affect system design and optimization, ensuring consistency between modeled environments, operational environments, and real-world data.
• Assess system capabilities by linking system and subsystem requirements to performance metrics and mission threads, proving operative interfaces and their connections that enable mission execution, defining and verifying interfaces and their connections that enable mission execution, verification/validation planning of system elements performing missions, and supporting system integration and test activities during development.
• Support systems engineering radar algorithm validation by tracing IQ data through the radar processing chain, comparing modeled and collected data, and identifying performance shortfalls and corrective actions.
• Plan, generate, and execute verification and validation artifacts supporting system design verification testing and system acceptance testing, including test plans, procedures, and data review packages. Plan demonstration and delivery of mission effects, data, or capabilities during operations and provide long-term sustainment and mission augmentation support over the life of systems.
• Develop and improve performance models, simulation frameworks, and analysis tools, including physics-based radar models, threat and environment models, command-and-control interactions, and mission-level models to accurately represent system behavior and mission effectiveness under varied conditions.
• Perform large-scale data analytics, probabilities, and statistics, including the application of design of experiments techniques for the evaluation of system and mission performance, algorithm robustness, and sensitivity to key parameters.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (M&S, software, radar modes, systems integration & test, mission engineering) to diagnose performance issues, perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis activities, recommend design changes or tuning, and ensure integrated solutions meet performance and mission requirements.
• Generate and present technical material to support internal and external customer briefings, technical reviews, and design/test readiness events.
• Innovate to solve problems and identify improvements across MSE&A products, performance analysis workflows, operational analysis activities, and integration/test approaches.
• Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation, and recommend alternative architectures.
• Develops, integrates, and uses advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools to explore, validate, and communicate performance and mission analysis results.
This position is contingent upon contract award, the successful transfer of an active U.S Government Secret Clearance and ability to obtain/maintain special program access (SAP).
Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience, a Master’s d
