About this role

Position Summary Position performs secretarial duties scheduling patient appointments, completing registration and triaging patient incoming phone calls.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Functions :
• Maintains medical records and notes. • Answers phone, triages call, takes messages and forwards to appropriate persons in EPIC. • Maintains daily appointment schedule for visitors and patient office visits. • Validates and verifies insurance. • Facilitates in obtaining prior authorizations for referrals. • Maintains and updates all insurance information for all patients. • Schedules appointments gathering all required information. • Receives electronic faxes and roues. • New patient referral process. • Sends letters to patients and families.
Other Functions :
• Assists administrative /physician staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses. • Greets visitors and routes incoming mail. • Facilitates referral to other services at SLCH & outside institutions. • Maintains documentation of referrals generated by Late Effects Team screening protocol in Excel.
Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions: • Normal office environment.
Physical Effort: • Typically sitting at desk or table.
Equipment: • Office equipment.

Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience. Certifications /Professional Licenses : No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
Work Experience: Medical Office Setting (2 Years) Skills: Not Applicable Driver's License: A driver's license is not required for this position.

Salary Range $17.87 - $27.06 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
