Job Description: Position Summary Under the direct supervision of the Lead Medical Scribe and Clinical Quality Manager, the Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately transcribing medical notes related to patient encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for physician review and approval. This position involves accompanying physicians during patient examinations to document history, physical exams, diagnoses, symptoms, and any treatments or procedures performed. The Medical Scribe also transcribes patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications, ensuring that all information is entered into the EMR system promptly and correctly.
In addition to transcription duties, the Medical Scribe is expected to maintain effective communication with physicians, patients, and other staff, while adhering to safety protocols and safeguarding patient confidentiality. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. The Medical Scribe is expected to conduct themselves professionally and carry out other duties as assigned by management.
Experience The ideal candidate for this position must have a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute and be proficient in Microsoft Office products. A strong understanding of filing systems, office machines, and equipment is essential. Experience with medical terminology, including knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes, as well as a solid understanding of the medical insurance process, is preferred and highly beneficial. The candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to handle tasks with flexibility, adjust to changing priorities, and meet deadlines is critical. Additionally, candidates should be capable of interpreting documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals, while maintaining proper grammar and spelling in written correspondence. Mathematical skills are also required, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, as well as handle basic financial calculations and reconcile cash drawer balances when needed.
Education Associate degree in a pre-med, pre-nursing, or a health-related field and 1+ years of office related or medical scribe experience or training preferred but not required.

Position Type: Regular Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience): $23.00 to 27.96 USD
