About this role

THE MISSION 💪

No one should suffer from a treatable skin disease because they couldn't access care. That's what Honeydew is fixing — a platform connecting hundreds of millions of people to licensed dermatologists, FDA-approved treatments, and ongoing skin health support. We've helped 40,000+ patients get life-changing results, we're growing 5x YoY, and we're just getting started.

THE OPPORTUNITY 📈

Honeydew is building the country's largest online dermatology workforce while growing 5x YoY — and we need a clinical leader to help us get to the next stage. As Medical Director, you will be the right hand to our CMO, Dr. Joel Spitz https://www.honeydew.com/authors/joel-spitz-md, shaping how hundreds of providers deliver care, launching treatment pathways for new and emerging skin conditions, shaping how AI gets woven into provider workflows, and helping figure out what dermatology at scale should actually look like.

You'll be in the mix — working directly with providers, partnering with product on tools that change how care gets delivered, and building the clinical infrastructure that lets us grow from 20,000 patients to 1M without sacrificing an ounce of quality. This role is best suited for someone who'd rather be three years into building a healthcare executive career than three years into a job that looks the same as it does today.

WHAT YOU'LL BUILD (YOUR FIRST 6 MONTHS) 🛠️

At Honeydew, we focus on outcomes over activities. In your first 180 days, you will own these three milestones:

1. Advance Innovative Treatments: Partner with the CMO and Clinical Ops lead to design and roll out treatment workflows for at least one existing or new condition — from protocol development through provider training and go-live.

2. Scale the Provider Network: Personally meet every provider 1:1, assess strengths and gaps, and establish the performance framework — scorecards, quarterly reviews, productivity benchmarks — that supports a world-class remote dermatology workforce.

3. Build the Clinical Infrastructure: Stand up the QA systems, SOPs, and escalation workflows that give us confidence in the consistency of care as we grow — and keep us audit-ready at every stage.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Clinical Workflow & Condition Pathway Development

- Lead the design and launch of clinical workflows for new and existing dermatological conditions

- Partner with the CMO and Clinical Ops lead to advance innovative treatment protocols and ensure they reflect current evidence and best practice

- Collaborate with the Product team to translate clinical workflows into platform functionality — provider dashboards, decision support tools, and patient-facing care journeys

- Support research initiatives with academic and pharmaceutical partners to advance treatment outcomes

Provider Network Leadership

- Oversee and continuously improve daily clinical performance across the country's largest online dermatology workforce

- Lead provider onboarding, training, and ongoing development — building a team that delivers exceptional, consistent care remotely

- Drive provider productivity and quality through structured coaching

- Assist in AI initiatives designed to augment provider performance and reduce friction in the clinical workflow

- Coordinate CME programming and content development for provider summits

- Support speaker and pharmaceutical partner recruitment for clinical events

Clinical Quality & Compliance

- Build correction workflows in coordination with the CMO and supervisor leads

- Monitor strict adherence to all treatment protocols across the provider panel

- Measure and report on treatment outcomes, flagging trends and outliers for clinical review

- Create and manage patient clinical escalation workflows involving the CMO, supervisor leads, and care coordinators

- Develop regulatory-grade SOPs and SLAs to ensure the platform is audit-ready at any stage of growth

- Oversee QA evaluation systems to assess provider documentation, patient communication, and treatment decisions

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Non-Negotiables:

- MD or DO with active license; clinical dermatology experience seeing patients for a minimum of 5 years

- Operational experience: being a senior operator at a large derm network (Schweiger, Forefront, Integrated) and/or management consulting, PE, military background with an MBA

- Demonstrated experience building clinical systems, SOPs, and quality frameworks — ideally within a large dermatology network, telehealth platform, or managed care organization (e.g., Advanced Dermatology, Integrative Dermatology)

- Analytical, metrics-driven mindset: comfort defining KPIs, reading data, and translating findings into operational change

- Structured, detail-oriented operator — thrives in environments that require both big-picture protocol design and granular chart-level review

The Nice-to-Haves:

- Telehealth or DTC healthcare platform experience

- Familiarity with AI-assisted clinical review tools or experience integrating AI into clinical workflows

- Experience with EMR optimization or provider dashboard development

- Background in academic research or pharma collaboration
