About this role

TSC is seeking a   Mechanical Engineer (I) in Huntsville, AL.   This position will support the TSC   Products Engineering Solutions (PES) .

Responsibilities:   

This position requires a flexible individual with experience in quick-turn electro-mechanical development of product concepts to working prototypes within limited timelines & guidance. The ideal candidate:  

• Design & CAD Modeling  

• Create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings of mechanical   housings , enclosures, brackets, and adapters  

• Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and support procurement of prototype parts and assemblies  

• Apply basic design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and tolerance considerations with guidance from senior engineers  

• Collaboration & Integration Support  

• Work closely with electrical and RF engineers to ensure proper size, weight, and form   factor   of antennas and electronics in host platforms  

• Support integration of TSC electronics into various platforms through design modifications and hands-on assistance  

• Coordinate with third-party manufacturers and vendors to ensure accurate and timely prototype fabrication  

• Testing & Prototyping  

• Assist in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting prototype mechanical/electro-mechanical systems  

• Participate in design reviews, incorporating feedback into improved designs  

• Documentation & Reporting  

• Produce and maintain design documentation, drawings, and records in accordance with company standards  

• Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and project documentation under supervision  

• Professional Development  

• Learn and apply engineering fundamentals to real-world problems under the guidance of senior engineers  

• Adapt to evolving program needs, tight deadlines, and dynamic project objectives in a fast-paced environment  

Required Qualifications:    

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) + 0-2 years of experience OR   Masters of Mechanical Engineering  

• Proficiency with SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD software) for part and assembly modeling, and engineering drawing creation  

• Basic understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including materials selection, manufacturing methods, and tolerance considerations  

• Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and documentation  

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams  

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Experience with SolidWorks Simulation FEA (structural) and/or CFD (thermal/airflow) analysis tools  

• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 standards  

• Hands-on prototyping, testing, and integration experience with electro-mechanical systems  

• Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) best practices  

• Familiarity with common fabrication processes (machining, sheet metal, 3D printing) and working with vendors/shops  

• Exposure to system-level integration of electronics, RF hardware, or antennas into mechanical assemblies  

• Internship or project experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced technology fields
