About this role
FUNCTION: Documents, visualizes, and articulates overall technical health, current and target states of Enterprise Architecture, in collaboration with senior leadership at an enterprise level. Leads the development of roadmaps with senior leadership for a targeted domain / function, and connects them with the broader Enterprise technology landscape, including alignment to industry Enterprise Architecture standards, building a pathway to achieve target state goals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Leverage expertise in technical and business strategy to collaborate with Senior Technology leaders of various domains to support strategic decision making. • Provide consultation services to improve domain technology delivery and operational efficiency. • Own and drive the Enterprise Architecture governance process and influence decision making for senior technology leaders by leveraging research and fact-based recommendations for various domains. • Influence senior technology leaders’ decision making by synthesizing research and fact-based recommendations from Enterprise Architects to support the domain in the Enterprise Architecture governance process. • Provide thought leadership and build strong stakeholder partnerships to articulate current state, target state and roadmap of a given domain. • Participate in Agile ceremonies to lead the partnership with delivery teams and domain leadership on architecture areas to include business, application, data, Cloud/infrastructure, security, integration, operations and support, in preparation for S3/S4 meetings and Architectural Review Board meetings. • Research, understand and apply existing, new, and emerging technologies and trends to determine their potential impact on technology domains. • Translate the enterprise's technology future-state architecture vision into principles, guidelines, standards, and patterns to ensure alignment with broader strategic goals. • Identify and communicate opportunities and approaches for solving domain problems that may include new products, new platforms, or system enhancements to domain leadership. • Create and maintain reference materials for use by the technical delivery team to ensure consistent and compliant solutions for enterprise level architecture patterns. • Drive the planning and design of strategic initiatives that require architecture oversight and guidance. • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. • Additional Duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE: This position will interface with senior leaders and will require excellent communication skills along with a strong knowledge of new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of those trends for strategic use
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 year's higher education and/or relevant work experience Experience negotiating, influencing, and achieving alignment with senior technology and business leaders 9 or more years of experience in developing and integrating applications using relevant software architecture principles and patters Experience in utilizing architectural frameworks Experience working with enterprise architecture tools Experience in architecture modeling to strategically plan capabilities within domains Work experience in software engineering, software delivery and solution architecture
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Graduate degree in business or technical discipline Certification and experience working with Cloud technologies and vendors Experience working in an Agile environment Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks Experience working in the financial services industry Experience working in three or more technical roles related to banking technical design and roadmap planning Experience in banking, application, data, Cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integration architecture Experience in driving and delivering innovation opportunities, within the realm of banking, to senior leadership
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $167,600.00 - $279,400.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
