Marketing Coordinator

The primary role of each full-time employee in Student Connection and Leadership Center is to encourage, facilitate, orchestrate, and support student efforts to fulfill the Student Connection and Leadership Center Vision and Mission, which center around: integrity, skill and talent development, inclusion, service, Christ-centered leadership, and student-focused experiences. The Marketing Coordinator has primary responsibility for the BYUSA marketing area volunteers and student employees in the Center, which includes mentoring, training, and providing policy and procedure education for student employees and possible program volunteers. Purpose and objectives are achieved by providing oversight in a developmental environment, establishing appropriate policies, providing informed coordination within university guidelines, conducting assessment of programs, and reporting plans, progress, and results to the direct supervisor. The Marketing Coordinator is accountable to the director for all actions, programs, and student engagement of the BYUSA Marketing Area and other associated department responsibilities as assigned.

All work by coordinator must be in alignment with BYU and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, BYU Mission, BYU Aims, and BYU Strategic Objectives. The essential functions of this position require in person work. Any exceptions are granted by university policies through employee relations. This position is located in an on campus workspace with the expectation that work takes place on campus to provide in person services and availability to BYU students, staff, administrators, and campus community during established and regular office hours.

There is an expectation that the Marketing Coordinator remain current and relevant in the field. There is an expectation of and support for ongoing professional development. Event days often require physical exertion in setting up and taking down events, extended periods of walking and standing, and enduring variable weather conditions. In addition to essential functions of the job performed during regular office hours, this position may require work on nights and weekends for the purpose of providing services to students, achieving the objectives of departments, and contributing to the mission of Campus Life.

What you’ll do in this position:

Program Management • Oversee marketing efforts with the BYUSA area and Center programs • Manage all Center specific signage and marketing of Vision and Mission efforts • Prepare marketing style guide • Create, develop, and hone evaluation and assessment tools, including an area purpose statement and objectives, to measure area efforts to fulfill the department Vision and Mission • Define volunteer involvement opportunities and develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, including collaborative efforts • Direct budget allocations, experience design and management, and work distribution of the marketing area • Ensure accuracy and relevancy of data and conclusions gathered through the area evaluation and assessment process • Promote and support innovation and technology to improve the efficacy of programming in fulfilling Student Connection and Leadership Center Vision and Mission and efficiency by maximizing resources • Provide event/activity oversight, in terms of experience design, volunteer involvement, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, risk management, equipment, AV support, crowd control, evaluation, administrative approval, ticketing, marketing and promotion, etc.

Student Development • Conduct performance evaluations with student employees to offer and solicit feedback • Create meaningful connections between Student Connection and Leadership Center Vision and Mission, as well as program objectives, to student efforts and the use of allocated resources • Create meaningful connections from the BYU Mission and Aims to department efforts and use of allocated resources • Facilitate increased student involvement, leadership opportunities, progression, and decision-making accountability • Mentor students through the design and marketing process and the administrative environment at BYU • Provide mentorship, guidance, direction, and instruction to BYUSA marketing area team • Provide oversight for student involvement in the budgeting and purchasing process • Scaffold a student experience that allows for spiritual, professional, and character development (e.g. oral and written communication; evaluation, assessment, and implementation skills; problem solving; experience design and management skills; religious convictions; increased awareness of strengths;
