About the Cockrell School of Engineering Marketing and Communications Office Cockrell School Marketing and Communications, located on the 10th Floor of Ernest Cockrell Jr. Hall, oversees all aspects of the Texas Engineering brand. Our team of strategists, writers, designers and digital communications specialists strives to capture, promote and publicize our story through impactful content that raises the global reputation of our school, departments, centers and programs.
Position Purpose The Marketing and Communications Student Assistant must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at University of Texas at Austin. They will help the Cockrell School of Engineering Marketing and Communications team develop social media content (suggest ideas, keep up with trends, act in videos, pose for photos, etc.) and support website content edits and organization. They will also work on special projects such as campus-wide celebrations, commencement, the Texas Engineer magazine and student engagement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities As a Marketing and Communications Assistant, 19.5 hours a week you will… • Develop content/ideas to share on our website and social media platforms.
• Edit and organize content for academic websites.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at University of Texas at Austin
• Proficiency with project management software (i.e. Asana, etc.)
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications • Previous social media management experience
• Experience in website content management systems (WordPress)
Salary Range $20.00/hour
Working Conditions • May work around standard office conditions, Monday-Friday in the Ernest Cockrell Jr. Hall (ECJ)
• Repetitive use of a keyboard or phone at a workstation
• Working in labs and outside
• Use of manual dexterity
