Manager, Software Engineering Job Description The Manager, Service Delivery is responsible for leading application services delivery and support activities for Wealth Management client-facing applications. This role partners closely with business leaders, technology teams, vendors, consultants, and global support teams to deliver stable, scalable, secure, and business-aligned technology solutions.

Northern Trust will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity (no sponsorship is available for H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, CPT or any other employment-based visa) Key Responsibilities • Lead application service delivery/ support, and implementation activities for Wealth Management client-facing systems. • Familiar with ITIL Process and Project methodologies. Assist and drive Change /Incident/Problem Management process and Project releases • Identify measures to improve applications stability and availability, sustain and improve cost efficiencies and productivity gains. • Develop periodic goals, organize team priorities, monitor activities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of work. • Provide technical leadership and in-depth consulting to internal partners, project teams, PI Planning and engineering staff. • Manage and coordinate with onsite and offshore NT partners to Support applications and drive continuous improvement efforts. • Coordinate with various teams, including offshore staff, and raise support ticket for all issues, analyze root cause and assist in efficient resolution of production issues. • Responsible to attend on-call, after office hours including weekend to support High and Critical production issues. • Manage large-scale, cross-functional, and technically complex initiatives across application development, support, and operational stability. • Partner with business stakeholders to identify needs, define conceptual system designs, validate solutions, and ensure technology services meet business objectives. • Support project planning, bug-fix prioritization, budget considerations, and management status reporting for projects, metrics, and availability. • Advise engineering teams on the impact of system enhancements to existing application designs and operational processes. • Drive production stability, service availability, metrics reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Assist management with identifying, assessing, monitoring, and controlling technology and operational risk. • Ensure compliance with audit, change control, data security, and secure software development lifecycle requirements. • Review and support vendor software package contracts, statements of work, and vendor support activities as needed. • Conduct performance management, career development, staffing input, disciplinary recommendations, and hands-on coaching for team members.
Required Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will bring strong technical depth, leadership capability, and experience supporting complex business-critical applications in a fast-paced environment.

• 8-12+ years of experience in application development and/or application support using modern technical frameworks and architecture. • Prior experience supporting business applications built on Java and database technologies. • Experience collaborating with external technology teams, vendors, consultants, business partners, and global support teams. • Working knowledge of DevOps and/or Site Reliability Engineering practices is preferred. • Understanding of the Secure Software Development Lifecycle and related technology delivery methodologies. • Experience working in Agile or XP project environments. • Hands-on or working knowledge of technologies such as Java, J2EE, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, cloud computing, RESTful interfaces, Git, Gradle, Maven, NPM, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Bootstrap, CSS3, HTML, React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, and Oracle PL/SQL. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and translate business needs into technology solutions. • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and operate in a fast-paced environment. • Strong team leadership skills and ability to work as part of a global support organization supporting multiple critical client-facing applications.
