About this role
Manager, Product Quality
Location: Remote (U.S.) with periodic travel to customer sites, TurbineOne facilities, demonstrations, exercises, and operational events as required.
About TurbineOne
TurbineOne is building Mission-AI for the Frontlines. Our Frontline Perception System (FPS) helps military and national security operators detect threats, accelerate decision-making, and unlock the power of AI at the tactical edge. We endeavor to build mission-valuable products in command and control, autonomy, and AI-enabled mission systems. We partner directly with frontline users to deliver mission-ready capabilities that work in real-world environments where speed, trust, reliability, and operational resilience matter most.
Our team is composed of experienced technologists, veterans, and operators committed to advancing national security through responsible innovation.
The Role
TurbineOne is seeking a Manager, Product Quality to lead our Product Quality and Mission Validation function, ensuring every software release meets the reliability, usability, and operational standards required by military and national security customers.
This is a player-coach leadership role. You will lead a growing Product Quality organization toward scale while remaining actively involved in test strategy, release readiness, quality engineering, and mission validation. You’ll establish quality standards across the software development lifecycle, help prioritize testing efforts, improve automation, and ensure accountability for software quality across Engineering.
Unlike traditional commercial software organizations, TurbineOne delivers AI-enabled software into customer-owned environments ranging from enterprise cloud infrastructure to tactical edge systems. Success requires balancing engineering velocity with rigorous testing, mission readiness, cybersecurity requirements, and customer confidence.
Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Engineering Operations , you will partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, DevOps, Security, Mission Operations, and Field Engineering to ensure every release is ready for operational deployment.
What You’ll Do
Own Product Quality
• Own Product Quality processes, test plans, and test activities, including the planning and execution of organization-wide Product Quality bug bashes.
• Establish quality standards across the entire software development lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive testing strategies for new capabilities and existing products.
• Lead functional, regression, integration, performance, usability, and system testing efforts.
• Define release readiness criteria for software deployments.
• Ensure product quality remains a shared responsibility across Engineering rather than solely a Product Quality function.
Lead Product Quality Cross-Functionally
• Build and develop a high-performing Product Quality organization.
• Establish priorities, ownership, and accountability across Product Quality activities.
• Conduct coaching, performance management, and career development for Product Quality engineers.
• Develop scalable testing processes that support a rapidly growing engineering organization.
• Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across engineering teams.
Contribute to Test Automation
• Partner with engineering teams to define requirements and drive the development of automated testing frameworks.
• Act as a primary stakeholder for framework requirements and contribute to writing tests. While not expected to build the entire technical framework end-to-end, you will ensure these systems effectively support automated regression testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• Improve automated test coverage for backend services, APIs, user interfaces, and mission workflows.
• Partner with DevOps to integrate automated quality validation into deployment pipelines.
• Continuously improve testing efficiency while reducing manual effort.
Support Mission Success
• Ensure software performs reliably in operational military environments by creating realistic testing scenarios.
• Test software in cloud, hybrid, disconnected, and tactical edge environments.
• Support customer acceptance testing, operational exercises, demonstrations, and field validation events.
• Partner with Mission Operations and Field Engineering to incorporate operational feedback into future testing strategies.
• Verify AI-enabled workflows, model management, sensor integration, and operational user experiences.
Partner with Product and Engineering
• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release planning activities.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to develop clear, measurable acceptance criteria.
• Work closely with Engineering throughout feature development rather than only during final testing.
• Help establish a consistent Definition of Done across engineering teams.
• Communicate software quality, testing progress, release risks, and readiness to executive leadership.
Support Secure Software Delivery
• Partner with Security and DevOps to ensure quality processes support secure software delivery.
• Validate software supporting customer environments requiring Interim Authorization to Test (IATT) and Authority to Operate (ATO).
• Support engineering teams working within RMF, NIST 800-171, CMMC, and other Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.
• Ensure testing processes produce repeatable, documented, and auditable results appropriate for defense customers.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Test Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• 2+ years of experience leading or managing Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering teams.
• Experience with automated testing
