Position Summary Shape the product direction for healthcare revenue cycle and electronic data interchange workflows as a Manager of Product Management for athenaEDI. In this role, you will partner with the Director of Product Management to turn customer, market, operational, and technical insights into product priorities, roadmap recommendations, requirements, and delivery plans. You will work closely with engineering and operations teams to understand system behavior, integration points, dependencies, and failure scenarios, and translate complex problems into scalable product solutions. This is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA or Burlington, VT, and it reports to the Director of Product Management for athenaEDI.

About the Team The athenaEDI Product Management team focuses on improving the systems and workflows that support healthcare transaction processing and revenue cycle operations. The team partners closely with engineering, operations, architecture, implementation, support, and customer-facing teams to deliver reliable product capabilities and operational improvements. It uses tools such as Jira and Confluence to manage product requirements, decisions, delivery context, and release readiness. The team also works across customer feedback, support trends, transaction data, and regulatory needs to guide product planning.

Essential Job Responsibilities • Define and execute product strategy for athenaEDI in partnership with the Director of Product Management.

• Gather customer, market, operational, and technical insights to inform product direction and investment decisions.

• Translate product strategy into roadmap recommendations, prioritized initiatives, product requirements, success measures, and delivery plans.

• Develop a strong understanding of healthcare transaction workflows, system interactions, integration points, and operational dependencies.

• Partner with engineering and architecture to define problems, evaluate solution options, identify constraints, and guide scope and sequencing decisions.

• Translate customer, operational, regulatory, and business needs into clear requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable outcomes.

• Prioritize work based on customer impact, product performance, technical feasibility, implementation effort, risk, and business value.

• Analyze transaction behavior, workflow performance, support trends, customer feedback, and product usage to identify improvement opportunities.

• Coordinate dependencies across teams and maintain visibility into delivery risks, technical decisions, and release readiness.

• Use AI tools to accelerate research, analysis, documentation, and workflow planning while applying judgment to validate outputs and support product decisions.

Additional Job Responsibilities • Support iterative delivery through discovery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and ongoing clarification.

• Communicate product recommendations, tradeoffs, sequencing rationale, and release status to technical and nontechnical audiences.

• Partner with go-to-market, implementation, support, and customer-facing teams on feature readiness and adoption.

• Lead customer discussions, user groups, and industry events to strengthen market and workflow understanding.

• Maintain system compliance by monitoring applicable government, regulatory, and standards requirements and translating them into roadmap and feature deliverables.

• Maintain product artifacts, decision records, requirements, and delivery context in Jira and Confluence.

Expected Education & Experience • 5–10 years of experience in product management, technical product management, business analysis, software delivery, product operations, or a related field.

• Experience working closely with software engineers, technical leads, architects, or platform teams.

• Ability to understand and communicate complex system workflows, integration dependencies, data movement, and application behavior.

• Experience turning ambiguous problems into prioritized, executable product plans.

• Experience with Agile software delivery, backlog refinement, requirements definition, acceptance criteria definition, and release planning.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort investigating issues across multiple systems or teams.

• Experience with healthcare revenue cycle management, healthcare EDI, transaction processing, integration platforms, APIs, payments, or other high-volume workflow systems.

• Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and AI-enabled productivity or development tools.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate productive conversations across engineering, operations, customers, and business stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, healthcare administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Preferred: familiarity with x12/API-based healthcare EDI transactions and associated revenue cycle workflows.

• Preferred: experience with products that require high reliability, complex integrations, exception handling, or operational monitoring.

• Preferred: experience using product metrics, transaction data, support trends, or operational data to guide prioritization, including AI-assisted analysis or workflow optimization tools.

• Preferred: comfort reviewing technical documentation, workflow diagrams, API specifications, or data mappings in partnership with engineering teams.

• Ability to work in a hybrid model from Boston, MA or Burlington, VT and travel up to 10% annually.
