As a Software Manager – Level 2 located in Colorado Springs, CO, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.

We are seeking a Manager Software Engineering 2 (S02/M2) in Colorado Springs, CO to provide functional and technical leadership for software engineers supporting the C2BMC National Team program. This is a full-time, on-site position at 9970 Federal Drive, working primarily in a classified, secure environment.
As a Manager Software Engineering 2, you will provide functional (people) leadership on the Northrop Grumman side and technical leadership in support of program objectives, in close partnership with the Program Engineering Lead (PEL), program management, and C2BMC National Team leadership. You will help ensure our software teams are staffed, supported, and executing effectively to meet C2BMC National Team cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
Note: This opening is limited to current Northrop Grumman employees who are actively supporting the C2BMC National Team program. Candidates must be currently assigned to C2BMC National Team and either already in Colorado Springs or willing to self-relocate; no relocation or signing bonus is available for this role.
The Manager Software Engineering 2 is responsible for functional management of a team of engineers supporting the C2BMC National Team, with primary focus on staff based in Colorado Springs, CO. This includes performance management, staffing, mentoring, and retention of Northrop Grumman personnel, as well as coordination with program leadership to align skills and staffing with evolving C2BMC National Team needs.
In addition to functional responsibilities, the person selected to fill this role will continue to support the program in a technical leadership role, contributing to planning, execution, and technical oversight of C2BMC National Team efforts. The role requires daily engagement in a classified environment with strong collaboration across multiple companies on the C2BMC National Team.
This position will work any schedule that supports mission requirements.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Functional Leadership & People Management: • Provide direct functional leadership for a team of engineers assigned to the C2BMC National Team program, with emphasis on Colorado Springs-based staff
• Perform managerial responsibilities including goal setting, quarterly check-ins, mid-year and year-end performance reviews, merit and bonus input, promotion recommendations, rewards and recognition, and resolution of personnel issues in accordance with Northrop Grumman guidance
• Manage timecard approvals, labor charging guidance within established constraints, schedule adherence, and basic compliance for assigned staff
• Support recruiting and hiring for C2BMC National Team positions, including requisition input, resume’ review, participation in technical interviews, and selection recommendations
• Foster a positive culture focused on ethical conduct, technical excellence, teamwork, and retention of high-performing engineers
Program & Technical Support: • Coordinate with the Program Engineering Lead (PEL), NG program management, and C2BMC National Team counterparts to understand program objectives and align NG staffing and skills to support those objectives
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to assigned engineers, including participation in design reviews, code reviews, defect triage, and technical decision-making as appropriate
• Support Agile/Scrum teams and DevSecOps / CI/CD practices (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins or similar) to maintain disciplined, repeatable product development and delivery
• Help ensure work products meet quality, performance, security, and configuration management expectations, within the constraints of the classified environment
• Support planning and execution of program increments, sprints, and releases in collaboration with IP leads, scrum masters, and technical leads
Risk, Communication, and Collaboration: • Identify and communicate staffing, skills, and execution risks and opportunities that may affect cost, schedule, or performance; contribute to mitigation and contingency planning
• Coordinate and communicate between multiple cross-functional teams (software, systems, test, integration, cyber, etc.) within C2BMC National Team partners and the NG Program Engineering Lead
