About this role
CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5-mile oval located in Joliet, Illinois, approximately 30 miles south of downtown Chicago on Old Historic Route 66. On July 3-5, 2026, NASCAR will make its much-anticipated return to Chicagoland Speedway for three days of racing action. At NASCAR, you'll work alongside passionate people creating experiences fans feel and helping shape the future of sports and entertainment.
Chicagoland Speedway is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help maintain the facility, equipment, and grounds while supporting events of all sizes held at the track. This hands-on role is responsible for preventive maintenance, repairs, facility improvements, and event support. The Maintenance Technician will work across the property to help ensure buildings, equipment, infrastructure, and other facility assets remain safe, functional, and event-ready.
What You’ll Do • Maintain and enhance the appearance and condition of the facility through painting, refurbishing, rebuilding, repairs, and other improvement projects. • Inspect and maintain plumbing, HVAC systems, building interiors and exteriors, parking lots, and other facility areas, completing repairs as needed. • Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on department equipment and assets to support safe, efficient operation and extend equipment life. • Provide assistance with inoperative vehicles and equipment when needed. • Support and execute preventive maintenance and routine inspection programs across the facility. • Safely operate and maintain owned and rented equipment, machinery, and tools. • Assist with facility operations and event setup, execution, and breakdown for events of varying sizes. • Coordinate with and support outside trade professionals, including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and other contractors completing facility projects. • Follow established safety practices, identify potential workplace hazards, and help maintain a safe working environment. • Assist with general facility maintenance, repairs, and construction projects. • Respond to work orders and maintenance requests throughout the facility. • Communicate effectively with teammates, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders. • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring • High school diploma or GED, two to four years of related maintenance experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Working knowledge of general facility maintenance, repair practices, equipment, and tools. • Ability to perform a variety of hands-on maintenance and construction-related tasks. • Strong attention to safety and the ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential workplace hazards. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teammates, contractors, and trade professionals. • Basic computer and mobile technology skills. • Valid driver’s license required. • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary to support events and facility operations.
Why This Role? The Maintenance Technician plays an important role in keeping Chicagoland Speedway safe, functional, and ready for events. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on across a variety of facility systems and projects while contributing directly to the operation and appearance of the track.
Physical Requirements • This position regularly requires standing and walking; using hands to handle or feel objects; and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must regularly be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. • The position frequently requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, as well as talking and hearing. The employee must frequently be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. • The position occasionally requires sitting and may require lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment • While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and around vibration and moving mechanical equipment. The employee may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may occasionally work at heights or around chemicals and electrical hazards. • Noise levels are typically loud and may be very loud at times, particularly during events.

The compensation range for this position is: 15.00-25.00
