About this role
The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Maintenance Planner & Scheduler who will support the timely coordination and completion of necessary planned and unplanned maintenance activities by leading and coordinating daily maintenance activities on facility, laboratory, and production equipment within a current Good Manufacturing Practices/Process Safety Management manufacturing facility by setting the schedules for the maintenance staff through the proper use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System. This position is responsible for ensuring spare parts are available for scheduled maintenance activities, continuously managing the upkeep of the Computerized Maintenance Management System master data and improving predictive and preventative maintenance tasks. It is essential for the Maintenance Planner & Scheduler to have in-depth experience maintaining facility, laboratory, production, and utility equipment in a manufacturing plant. What we’re looking for:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in operations or business management or similar field preferred, or minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the field.
Experience: 3-5 years.
Additional Qualifications: • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing procedures. • Ability to present scheduling information and respond to manufacturing questions from employees. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. • Ability to write manufacturing status reports and correspond with sales staff as needed. Responds to all e-mail correspondence in Microsoft Outlook promptly. • Manages MRP e-mail box correspondence. • Directs all correspondence to the appropriate scheduler or party. Directs PVR’s to the correct recipient. Responds to all Sales and Upper Management products and process inquiries. • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, and percentages. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Ability to follow manufacturing product trees and interpret a variety of technical instructions. • Ability to manage multiple spreadsheets and programs to meet scheduling demands. • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Ability to adjust manufacturing plans as variables change quickly and efficiently.
How you will thrive and create an impact: • Ensure adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices, Drug Enforcement Agency regulations, Department of Transportation regulations, Environmental Protection Agency regulations, Food & Drug Administration regulations, International Organization for Standardization standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, Quality Work Instructions, safety policies, and all federal and local guidelines. • Write, review, and revise maintenance department documentation and paperwork to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and industry practices while streamlining processes. • Identify needed parts and services, purchase them, and track their status to facilitate the procurement of replacement parts and repair services. • Organize and maintain a maintenance documentation library to ensure audit readiness and provide background when identifying and diagnosing equipment issues. • Build daily, weekly, monthly and shutdown schedules that minimize equipment downtime and maximize safe, efficient, and effective use of resources. • In consultation with maintenance and other departmental leadership, ensure work schedules align with business plan objectives. • Identify potential constraints, deficiencies and trends that could impact the schedule and recommend corrective actions. • Develop work plans that minimize equipment downtime and maximize safe/efficient/effective use of resources. • Prepare and maintain maintenance department metrics, including planning and scheduling Key Performance Indicators. • Receive daily schedule updates from maintenance personnel and update the weekly schedule. • Plan, schedule, and track corrective, predictive and preventative work requests. • Use data from the Computerized Maintenance Management System to define critical spares. • Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings. • Facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly planning & scheduling meetings. • Visit job locations and field-verify work request requirements. • Provide general administrative support as required. • Support any customer and internal and external audits. • Maintain a safe and clean working environment. • Review and validate clarity of work requests. • Define scope of work for contract services. • Produce cost estimates. • Other duties as specified by the Sr. Mgr., Maintenance & Reliability.
