The Logistics Planner II is responsible for coordinating and executing ancillary supply distribution activities that support global clinical studies. This role ensures the accurate and timely processing of sales orders, shipment documentation, and distribution activities while maintaining strong collaboration with country operations teams, warehouse providers, study teams, and external vendors. The Logistics Planner II plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted supply chain operations and successful delivery of clinical trial materials to depots and investigational sites worldwide.
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Supply Distribution & Order Management • Execute system-based ancillary supply distribution activities for assigned clinical studies.
• Review and support initial shipment planning requirements.
• Create and manage pro forma and commercial invoices for study sites.
• Review sales orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance requirements.
• Process sales order updates, adjustments, and corrections as needed.
• Resolve sales orders impacted by legal or system control blocks.
• Release sales orders to warehouse providers and manage changes to shipment timing or requirements.
• Execute sales order activities for study resupply shipment requests.
• Perform sales order releases for depot-to-site shipments in countries utilizing depot distribution strategies.
Shipment Coordination & Compliance • Manage communications with country operations teams throughout the shipment approval process.
• Obtain shipment "green light" approvals prior to sales order release.
• Ensure shipment documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with study and regulatory requirements.
• Support inquiries related to shipments, supply availability, and order status.
• Coordinate with warehouse providers to resolve shipment and supply-related issues.
• Create drop-ship sales orders for supplier-direct shipments when required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with Ancillary Supply Management (ASM) teams to support clinical study supply distribution.
• Participate in regular shipment review meetings and contribute to solutions for supply chain and distribution challenges.
• Support Equipment Specialists by providing information necessary for equipment tracking and record maintenance.
• Partner with study teams on study closeout activities, including resolution and closure of open sales orders.
• Provide operational support as a subject matter expert (SME) and assist with process improvement initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Education • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, distribution, clinical supplies, or related operations.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in supply chain, logistics, or distribution operations.
• Knowledge of clinical trial supply chain processes.
• Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
• Experience supporting global distribution activities and shipment documentation.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management processes.
