Job Description The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, Sports Media, College of Urban Affairs [R0150932].
ROLE of the POSITION The Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies invites applications for a lecturer/senior lecturer in Sports Journalism, with an emphasis on broadcasting and multimedia production . We’re looking for a veteran sports journalist who can teach and mentor the next generation of multi-platform sports media professionals. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience reporting, announcing, anchoring and producing sports programming, both in the studio and on site at sporting events. We also value candidates who keep current with innovations, changes and trends in the sports media industry. Our students report, produce, and anchor the Rebel Report, an Emmy winning program that covers college and professional sports. Students also write and produce packages for Rebel Sports Net, a social and digital media platform.
PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE Housed in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies seeks to embody the public service ideals of Hank Greenspun, the former editor and publisher of the Las Vegas Sun . The School enrolls about 430 undergraduate and graduate students. Its academic and professional programs emphasize critical thinking and experiential learning. Students can participate in the School’s professional media operations, which include KUNV Public Radio, UNLV TV, and the Rebel Media Group, a student social media agency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3-5 years of experience reporting announcing, anchoring, and producing sports programs. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching/mentoring students as well as experience building relationships with college and professional sports teams . Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date of the semester.
