About this role
Job Description Summary The Lead SCADA and Cybersecurity engineer is responsible for performing and leading all technical aspects of Electric Substation SCADA and cybersecurity system design deliverables. Should have great attention to detail of all project requirements and lead other designers to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget with a safety mindset.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities • Ensure design compliance with NERC CIP requirements, applicable cybersecurity standards (e.g. IEC 62443), Substation SCADA based on IEC-61850, DNP, standards and best industry practices • Ability to provide functional design specifications for complex SCADA and Cybersecurity Systems, which may include multiple sites, typically windfarm, onshore and offshore substations and O&M centers. • Lead their project design team to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget. • Ability to review and coordinate detailed design from vendors and manufacturers to ensure delivery of optimized high-performing integrated SCADA and Cybersecurity design compliant with the specifications, applicable codes and standards and incorporating safety in design practices. • Coordinate SCADA and cybersecurity design with other disciplines (protection and control, primary design, site managers, commissioning engineers and field personnel). • Developing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures and participating in FAT and SAT. • Prepare engineering estimates for SCADA system. Estimate equipment quantities and costs for proposals. • During project execution, communicate with Project Engineering Manager to resolve engineering and design aspects that impact material cost, schedule, engineering budget, safety and quality • Ability to communicate effectively with the customer and report any potential opportunity for variations or risks to the project to the Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or associated discipline from an accredited university. • 7 years’ experience in Engineering • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in Utility, Renewable and/or Industrial HV & EHV substation’s cybersecurity systems design. • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, including international, and must comply with all relevant company travel and tax policies
Desired • Demonstrated knowledge with NERC-CIP standards and guidelines for Cyber Security (IEC 62443), or NIST. • Demonstrated knowledge with standard SCADA network architecture (HMIs, Gateways, RTUs) and protocols (OPC, DNP3, etc.) as applied to substation projects. • Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed networks. • Familiarity with IEC 61850 based Digital Substations (PRP, HSR, RSTP) and cybersecurity equipment (VPN, Firewall, Router, NIDS, etc.) from various vendors • Familiarity with Telecom equipment and standards (MPLS, Multiplexer, WAN, LTE, 4G) • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng and willingness to serve as the engineer of record or be willing to obtain certification within two years

You must have legal authorization to work in Canada and any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation. The drug screen requirement in the background check process is not required if the role is based in Canada .

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $110,000 and $160.000 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: 10% bonus
