Job Posting Title: Landmarks Pre-Program Conservation Intern (Open to work study and non-work study) ---- Hiring Department: College of Fine Arts ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 12 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Aug 17, 2026 ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until May 31, 2027 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: Purpose For the 2026-2027 academic year, the College of Fine Arts is looking for a detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and self-motivated student employee to provide support for Landmarks, the public art program of UT Austin. As the university’s public art program, Landmarks enriches the lives of students and visitors by presenting art that is broadly accessible and free to all. Some fifty works of modern and contemporary art are throughout the 433-acre campus and viewed by thousands of people every day.
The Landmarks Pre-Program Conservation Intern will assist with preventive care/collections management, examination/documentation, research, treatment, and outreach within Landmarks’ collections department. This position is ideal for students looking to pursue a graduate degree in conservation.
Responsibilities • Bimonthly condition checks and reports
• Biannual inventory of conservation supplies and preparation of conservation materials
• Bimonthly SharePoint Updating and Review
• Hospitality outreach to collection lenders
• File management of collections paperwork
• Document and attend LPG Workshops
• Project and treatment research as needed
• Bimonthly basic cleaning per piece
• Conservator supervised monthly treatments (rotating)
• Manage LPG tracking spreadsheet, answer LPG questions and resupply materials
• Write 1x blog per semester
• Attend LPG Workshops and AIC Conference Virtually
• Additional administrative tasks as needed0
Required Qualifications • Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks
• Collaborate effectively as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational abilities and exceptional attention to detail
• Optional: Work-Study award for the semester.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications • Active member and/or previous volunteer experience with the Landmarks Preservation Guild
• Previous experience with conservation, condition reporting, and/or collections management
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 software and SharePoint
Hourly Rate $17.00/hour
Working Conditions • Work performed in standard office conditions, and indoors / outdoors around campus
• Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation
• Frequent walking outdoors across UT's main campus is required on a weekly basis
• Required to facilitate and attend multiple conservation workshops per week around UT’s main Campus
Work Shift • 12 hours per week
• Position ends May 31, 2027 with ability to extend through the summer
• Rehire eligible based on performance
