The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).
Pay Range: $78,769.60 - $102,960.00 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Position Overview SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job): The Product Engineer I supports the discovery, design, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of digital products that protect trusted access to Capital Health systems, data, services, and facilities. The role works within Product Engineering and partners closely with Information Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Operations, Infrastructure, Privacy, Compliance, Risk, Clinical and Business Applications, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Legal, and operational leaders. The position supports a portfolio that may include identity and access management, identity governance and administration, privileged access management, third-party risk management, security operations workflow applications, digital identity and authentication, governance-risk-compliance capabilities, security automation, and AI-enabled Digital Trust products. Assignments may involve vendor platforms, internally developed solutions, integrations, workflow automation, dashboards, copilots, and reusable enterprise capabilities. The role helps convert security, compliance, and operational pain points into clear product capabilities that improve user experience, reduce friction, strengthen controls, and enable reliable healthcare operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Health Informatics, Business Analytics, Product Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred. Experience: Early-career experience gained through employment, internships, co-op assignments, academic capstone projects, healthcare operations, technology implementations, process improvement, product development, data analysis, business analysis, or cybersecurity initiatives is preferred. Direct cybersecurity experience is not required when the candidate demonstrates strong product aptitude, technical curiosity, structured problem solving, and the ability to learn Digital Trust concepts. Knowledge and Skills : Working knowledge of product lifecycle concepts, user-centered design, business process analysis, workflow mapping, Agile methods, product backlogs, user stories, acceptance criteria, testing, change management, and outcome measurement. Foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles, least privilege, Zero Trust, identity lifecycle management, access controls, third-party risk, privacy, auditability, and secure system design is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, organization, analytical thinking, documentation, and collaboration skills are required. Ability to learn tools such as Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, identity governance, privileged access, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, Jira, Microsoft 365, workflow automation platforms, analytics tools, and generative AI solutions. Special Training : Training in product discovery, Agile product development, design thinking, process mapping, user story development, cybersecurity fundamentals, identity and access management, risk management, AI fundamentals, responsible AI, healthcare privacy, or change management is preferred. Capital Health-specific training will be provided as appropriate. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, handle sensitive information appropriately, raise risks promptly, collaborate across technical and nontechnical teams, and remain composed when priorities or operational conditions change.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Participate in product discovery sessions with Digital Trust stakeholders to understand user needs, business objectives, regulatory obligations, control requirements, operational pain points, risks, and desired outcomes.
• Observes, analyzes, and documents current-state identity, access, third-party risk, security operations, and governance workflows, including manual steps, delays, handoffs, duplicate work, control gaps, and user friction. Contributes to future-state workflow and service designs that improve security, reliability, employee and clinician experience, operational efficiency, auditability, and scalability.
• Help translate security and operational needs into product concepts, product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflow diagrams, decision logs, test scenarios, and release documentation. Support product backlog creation and refinement by organizing features, defects, risks, technical dependencies, compliance obligations, and enhancement requests.
