WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB: The American Red Cross (ARC) spends ~$2 billion annually on goods and services. Of this amount, $1.2 billion is spent on goods and services that should be strategically sourced (sourceable), including regulated and non-regulated materials, supplies, facilities and equipment maintenance, consulting, and IT hardware and software. The $0.8 billion in spend that is not strategically sourced consists of payments to government agencies, grant recipients, inter-Red Cross transfers, and payroll and employee benefits. Of the $1.2B that is sourceable, nearly $150M in spend each year on IT good and services.
Supply Management at the Red Cross is undergoing a transformation with the objective of becoming a top performing function when compared to the outside market. The Supply Management Team works with the IT organization and IT executives to execute planned spend. To help ensure Supply Management continues to meet the needs of its Red Cross IT and business unit clients, we require IT-knowledgeable, category managers professionals to support the Strategic Procurement leadership.
Key Objectives for the IT Category Manager: The IT Category Manager has both IT and Supply Management (SM) experience with skills required to find, engage, compete, and contract with service providers in the US and across the globe to meet a variety of demands. The IT Category Manager will have significant experience in supply management or IT business office roles, demonstrating expertise, the ability to manage IT suppliers, business clients, internal partners, and activities independently.
The work location for this position is 100% virtual/work from home. While the position can be worked from anywhere in the United States, this position will work an East Coast schedule (8am – 5pm). Appearance on video is required on a daily and frequent basis for meetings.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities): The IT Category Manager will have a variety of accountabilities and responsibilities, some of which will be achieved through influence. Examples include: • Work with the Sr. Director and Director of IT Strategic Procurement to ensure demands and priorities are synchronized with expectations of IT, business client, and Supply Management leadership. • Be responsible for a portfolio of assigned suppliers to include associated agreements, renewals, and third-party risk management activities. • Manage a portfolio of assigned clients to understand procurement demands and timelines, develop relationships, and influence procurement strategies. • Lead, develop and implement category strategies to manage the assigned portfolios, control costs, and ensure continuity of supply. • Lead negotiation of supplier agreements and renewals in collaboration with internal partners from Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management, IT, and business clients. • Work with clients and suppliers to negotiate statements of work and ordering documents, adding value to support positive outcomes for project investments. • Assess, identify, and mitigate third-party agreement risk in collaboration with internal partners from the Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management, IT Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), and Information Security. • Work with the CIO, IT VP leaders, other business tech leaders and project teams to contribute to business cases, manage spend, and plan project procurement timelines. • Know and participate in Supply Management processes, to include Supplier Onboarding (SOBRA), Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB), Risk Council, and P&L Improvement. • Perform the business of IT Strategic Procurement, communicating with leaders, contributing to team performance, emphasizing P&L improvement, and supporting diversity goals.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications): • Bachelor’s degree in related disciplines such as Finance, Supply Management, Economics, Computer Science or Information Systems. • 7+ years of professional experience, to include Supply Management, Procurement, or IT Business Office roles responsible for IT supplier or category management. • Information Technology experience overseeing IT services and suppliers. •
