Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware. Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.   We are considering candidates at two different grades for this position. Candidates will be evaluated for the highest grade for which they qualify.

This Role is 100% onsite at our New Albany, Ohio location.   What you’ll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks • Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure: Perform infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.

• Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.

• Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.     

• Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.

• Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.   

• May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.

  Other Requirements: • Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, codes and regulations relevant to assignments.

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of AEP infrastructure,  environment,  components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.

• Exhibit and apply proficiency in analysis, design, problem solving, troubleshooting, resolution, communication, and customer service skills.  

• Networking Protocols:  Strong understanding of routing (OSPF, BGP) and switching.

• Hardware:  Proficiency with major vendor equipment (Cisco, Arista, etc).

• Security:  Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, PKI, and cybersecurity best practices.

• Troubleshooting:  Excellent problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving complex issues

• This position participates in an on-call rotation and is part of an operational support team that provides 24x7 coverage and support.

  Nice-to-haves: • Firewall configuration, installation and maintenance

• Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) to provide authentication of devices and users

• Solid foundation of routers and switches (Cisco, Arista, etc)

• Background in supporting users in larger settings.

• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.

• Good communication skills, able to interact with different customers, including leadership.

• Experience working with a team in a larger environment

Education requirements are listed below: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required. 

Work Experience requirement listed below: • 5 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Infrastructure Engineer Prin (SG8):

Education requirements are listed below: • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.

Work Experience requirement listed below: • 7 years of relevant work experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

What You'll Get:
