The Digital Health platform team within Medtronic supports cloud-based software solutions used across the Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health operating units. The platform integrates digital health applications, enterprise systems, and connected data assets that enable product development, regulatory compliance, quality processes, customer insights, and business decision-making. This team is responsible for establishing scalable, secure, and compliant data foundations that support current therapies while enabling future digital health innovation. The Information & Data Architect is responsible for defining and governing the information architecture that supports Medtronic's Digital Health platform. This role leads data strategy, governance, modeling, integration, and stewardship efforts to ensure data is accurate, secure, accessible, and aligned with business, quality, and regulatory requirements. The position serves as a cross-functional leader who connects engineering, product, quality, regulatory, and business teams to establish scalable data practices that support platform growth, reporting, analytics, and future artificial intelligence and machine learning initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities • Define and maintain the logical information architecture, including business definitions, metadata standards, data dictionaries, and data models across the Digital Health platform. • Lead cross-functional data discovery and requirements activities to align platform capabilities with engineering, clinical, quality, regulatory, commercial, and product needs. • Establish and govern enterprise data standards for ownership, stewardship, quality, lifecycle management, documentation, and traceability. • Analyze and document data flows, integrations, dependencies, and information exchanges across platform applications and enterprise systems. • Partner with software engineering teams to incorporate data architecture, governance, privacy, security, and integration requirements into solution designs and development activities. • Define and maintain role-based access control (RBAC) and data access governance processes in collaboration with Cybersecurity, Legal, and business stakeholders. • Develop and maintain a catalog of data assets, ownership structures, metadata, and business context to improve information discoverability and reuse. • Establish data quality metrics, monitoring processes, and governance mechanisms that support regulatory compliance, reporting, analytics, and future advanced data initiatives.
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience OR PhD
Preferred Qualifications • Extensive experience with software architecture, APIs, enterprise system integrations, and software development lifecycles. • Extensive experience with relational databases, SQL, logical data modeling, entity relationship diagramming, and information architecture principles. • Extensive experience with data warehouses, analytics platforms, reporting solutions, or cloud-based data ecosystems. • Experience documenting complex systems, metadata, business processes, and data flows. • Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills. • Experience working closely with software engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle. • Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, master data management (MDM), data stewardship, and data governance frameworks. • Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA software lifecycle processes, privacy regulations, and quality management systems. • Experience implementing data governance frameworks or enterprise information management practices. • Understanding role-based access control (RBAC), identity management, authentication, authorization, and information security principles.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
