Job Summary I&E Technician performs various duties related to the maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of all instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment associated with a combined cycle power generation facility. This position is in a bargaining unit represented by the Utility Workers of America/AFL-CIO and Local 310 BUW Council UWUA, AFL-CIO. The hourly rate for this positions is $48.62
Job Description • Maintain and repair all plant I & E equipment from routine maintenance to complex I & E troubleshooting at a combined cycle power plant. • Major Pieces of Equipment to include, but not limited to: • Combustion Turbines • Steam Turbines • Heat Recovery Steam Generators • 50 MW and 120 MW Generators • Surface Condensers • Circulating Water Equipment • Station And Instrument Air Systems • Distributed Controls Systems
• • Auxiliary components to include, but not limited to: • Demineralizer Equipment • Ammonia Injection Equipment • Closed Cooling Water System Equipment • Fuel Oil/Gas Equipment • Air Removal Equipment • Hydrogen Seal Oil Equipment • Feedwater/Condensate Equipment • Steam Dump Equipment • Turbine Bypass Equipment • Waste Water Treatment Equipment • SCR Equipment • CEMs (Continuous Emission Monitoring Equipment) • Turbine Supervisory Instrumentation • Plant Electrical Systems • Programmable Logic Controllers
• Assist and advise Management and Plant Operators on all instrumentation and electrical equipment and systems.
• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance activities, to include, but not limited to: • Readings • Inspections and Checks • Lubrication • Equipment Cleanings • Filter Changes
• Analyze equipment performance by processing test data, using schematic drawings, diagrams and reviewing equipment manuals. Recommend and/or take necessary corrective action. • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all control systems at station. Which include, but are not limited to: • Honeywell Experion • Siemens T3000 • Honeywell TDC3000 • Allen Bradley
• Use hand tools, power tools, test and calibration equipment to perform maintenance activities.
• Perform rigging, staging, overhead crane and forklift truck operation
• Utilize the maintenance management system (Maximo, et. al.) by:
• • Performing "work orders" as assigned • Complete maintenance data sheets for entry into equipment history data base • Provide input for the development and improvement of maintenance procedures
• Observe work of third party contractors (e.g., outside vendors, Rhode Island Energy, etc.) when needed.
• Maintain and update shop records including prints, drawings, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals. Use computer to retrieve job-related data.
• Handle and/or dispose of hazardous materials and waste products to include cleaning of spills.
• Participate in on-the-job training, initially as a trainee in the progression program, then as an OJT trainer for other personnel.
• Maintain, clean, and properly store shop equipment and tools.
• Comply with all company safety and compliance (environmental and NERC) regulations, including safe work practices as described in the company Safety Policies, Station Safety Procedures, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Perform work assignments within other departments at times of peak loads, major operating problems, emergency situations.
• Conduct lock out tag out (LOTO) activities within system and plant rules and regulations.

• Participate and Contributes to Plant Safety Meetings and Programs. Brings ideas for Safety improvements forward. Documents all safety findings appropriately (near miss reporting, safety work orders, incident investigation participation, and safety improvement plans). Stops work and takes corrective action if an unsafe act is witnessed and escalates to management as appropriate. Enforces site safety rules and practices.

The hourly rate for this position is governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The hourly rate for this position is $48.62 This position requires the ability to work 8 consecutive hours of work on a standard daily shift, with the potential for both emergent (call-in) and planned support. The company values work/life balance, however, a requirement of this job that emergent overtime will be worked occasionally, and planned overtime will be worked during high peak times.
Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus two years of trade or technical school with training in the fundamentals of The Power Plant Cycle.
• Six years experience in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of instrument and electrical (I&E) systems, and equipment in a power plant or similar industrial setting.
