Anduril's Human Systems Integration (HSI)/Human Factors Engineering organization is seeking an experienced Human Factors Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will apply scientific principles of human cognition, behavior, and ergonomics to design and evaluate solutions that maximize usability, safety, and efficiency. You will be a key voice for the user, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless and intuitive experience for our warfighters.

The Human Factors Engineering team collaborates with our broader engineering organization to ensure our products are designed to meet or exceed both warfighter needs and expectations and mission performance requirements.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Human Factors Engineer at Anduril, you will leverage your extensive knowledge of and methodologies to drive excellence into our products. You will represent and be a proponent of Human Factors and User-Centered Design across programs and will work across the Engineering & Manufacturing organization to guide both design and test of hardware and software systems from initial concept design to operational deployment and sustainment. The right person for this role has experience designing and evaluating products, systems, and environments to improve human performance, safety, and user experience. You will accomplish these goals by applying principles from psychology, engineering, and design. Common duties include conducting user research, creating task analyses. analyzing user behavior, performing usability testing, creating user personas, ergonomics and accessibility assessments, and collaborating with design and engineering teams to implement human-centered solutions. As a human factors engineer at Anduril our key goals are to optimize human performance, reduce human error, and enhance the user’s physical comfort and safety. The right person for this role can work efficiently across multi disciplinary teams and is accountable for results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Provide Human Factors support across various project teams and business lines

• Be an advocate for the user and promote user-centric design as a means to optimize operator performance and user acceptance

• Create task analyses and user workflows

• Plan, conduct, and report usability testing throughout a program’s lifecycle

• Identify requisite Manning, Personnel, and Training (MPT) issues to support mission use cases

• Create personas or personnel cards to identify knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) needed for successful task completion

• Conduct heuristic analyses of prototype hardware and software user interfaces (UI)

• Conduct human performance testing assessing user performance across varying levels of cognitive and physical workload, Situational Awareness, and fatigue

• Support Human Factors in multidisciplinary integrated product teams (IPTs)

• Support creation of training aids and user manual development

• Identify safety hazards for both operators and maintainers and help develop and track implementation of mitigation strategies with relevant IPTs

• Conduct ergonomic and anthropometric assessments to promote system usability, maintainability, habitability, and accessibility

• Lead and conduct human factors analyses including task analysis, function allocation, workload assessment, and human error analysis (HEA) across program phases.

• Develop and execute usability studies, cognitive walkthroughs, and human-in-the-loop (HITL) evaluations to inform system design decisions.

• Author and review Human Systems Integration (HSI) documentation, including HSI Program Plans,

• Apply MIL-STD-1472, MIL-HDBK-46855, and relevant DoD standards to ensure human engineering compliance across hardware and software interfaces.

• Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, program managers, and customers to integrate human factors requirements into system design specifications and ICDs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Human Factors Engineer, Ergonomics Engineer, Industrial Engineer or Test Engineer

• M.S. Degree in Human Factors Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Applied Experimental Psychology, Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline

• Experience with MIL-STD-1472, MIL-STD-46855, and MIL-STD-882

• Experience in conducting task analyses or workflow analyses

• Experience in conducting user research and/or ethnographic observation

• Experience in implementing multiple research methodologies (e.g. A/B Testing, Think Aloud Protocols, Card Sort) for user testing

• Experience in planning, conducting, and reporting user testing including both qualitative and quantitative data

• Eligibility to pursue a U.S. security clearance, as required

• In this role, you will be subject to pre-employment substance screening and randomized substance screening, as required by the Company.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ph.D. in. Degree in Human Factors Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Applied Experimental Psychology, Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline

• Currently possesses or is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance

• Experience in deal
