Alcoa is seeking an early-career technical professional who is curious, organized, and motivated to build practical experience in field sampling, equipment management, data, compliance, and cross-functional coordination.
About the Role
In this role, you will support occupational health and safety programs with a primary focus on Industrial Hygiene. Reporting directly to the Senior Industrial Hygienist, you will partner with Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Medical, supervisors, employees, laboratories, and other site stakeholders to identify , evaluate, document, and help control workplace hazards. Your work will combine field sampling, equipment preparation and calibration, data and records management, compliance support, project coordination, and local driving to ship samples. You will begin with structured training and progress toward independently managing assigned work with appropriate escalation .

Key Responsibilities
• Support exposure monitoring and hazard evaluation. Conduct or assist with workplace exposure monitoring, industrial hygiene surveys, health hazard assessments, inspections, audits, and program evaluations to support employee health protection and exposure-reduction efforts.
• Prepare and manage sampling resources. Set up, maintain , calibrate, and track industrial hygiene equipment and supplies so field activities are completed accurately and reliably.
• Collect and coordinate samples. Gather and document samples, maintain appropriate records , coordinate laboratory analysis, and drive samples to local shipping or laboratory locations as needed.
• Maintain accurate data and documentation. Enter, organize, check, and interpret monitoring data; maintain databases, metrics, training records, reports, and other program documents with attention to data integrity and follow-through.
• Support safety and compliance programs. Assist with site safety programs, contractor safety activities, regulatory compliance work, corrective-action tracking, and continuous-improvement projects.
• Coordinate across the site. Plan and communicate field activities with Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Medical, supervisors, employees, laboratories, and other partners while taking accountability for assigned work and escalating concerns appropriately.
What You Bring
• Relevant technical education. An associate's or bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related technical field provides the foundation for this work.
• Entry-level experience and intentional interest. Up to two years of experience in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, EHS, Environmental Health, laboratory, safety, or a closely related setting. Relevant internships, co-ops, coursework, and projects may count.
• Safety-minded readiness for field work. Willingness and ability to work in a large industrial plant environment and participate in field sampling, inspections, equipment handling, and detailed documentation.
• Data and Microsoft Office skills. Working proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including basic comfort organizing, checking, and interpreting numeric information and records. Excel is especially important for Industrial Hygiene data.
• Organized and collaborative work style. Dependability, careful follow-through, clear communication, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments, learn technical concepts quickly, and work effectively across functions.
• Valid driver's license. Ability to perform local driving associated with shipping samples or transporting equipment.

• Learn and apply safe work practices. Build knowledge of site procedures, sampling methods, equipment handling, documentation standards, and key stakeholders.
• Deliver accurate , reliable work. Prepare equipment and records correctly, complete routine assignments and data entry on time, and ask for help at the right time.
• Grow in independence and impact . Identify inconsistencies or hazards, contribute to compliance and continuous improvement, and demonstrate readiness for broader responsibility.

Long-term development may follow a Safety or Industrial Hygiene track based on performance, qualifications, interests, company needs, and role availability.
