About this role
ABOUT SIFT
Sift is the data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams. Sift turns high-frequency telemetry into engineering insights for mission-critical systems. Teams use Sift to build and operate rockets, satellites, autonomous vehicles, energy systems, defense platforms, and more.
Founded by former SpaceX engineers who built the tools behind Dragon and Starlink, Sift is building the data infrastructure to herald the AI era for physical systems.
ABOUT THE ROLE
San Francisco hard tech is the most alive it has been in years, and Sift just opened an office in the middle of it. We already know how to throw a great event. What we have not done is make the energy travel: the room fills, the night lands, and none of it shows up on Twitter, where the hard tech conversation actually compounds. This is a growth role that fixes that. You will own our events and field program, our hosted community nights out of our SF office, and the job of turning every room we are in into content that moves online. Vibe and funnel carry equal weight here, because they feed each other: the vibe fills the room, the room fills the funnel, and the funnel pays for the next room. You will carry an event-sourced pipeline number set with the Head of Sales and a talent contribution target set with the Head of Talent.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the annual event calendar, budget, and the return on it. Run our internal event scoring framework and make the call on every booth, walk, and pass with a rationale attached.
- Build and run our owned event program: dinners, roundtables, and hosted formats that fill without depending on account executives sending personal invites the week of.
- Stand up a recurring San Francisco community program out of our SF office, so the Bay Area hardware and autonomy community has a Sift night on its calendar.
- Make every event ship to the feed. Every event we host or attend produces clips, photos, and posts on Twitter within days. If it was worth hosting, it is worth posting.
- Grow Sift’s Twitter presence into something that carries the energy of the SF hard tech scene, and get the team posting alongside the company account.
- Partner with RevOps to close our attribution gap so every booth, dinner, and sponsorship maps to opportunities and event-sourced pipeline is a number we can state.
- Turn booth execution into a system: owned assets, a shipping and staffing runbook, a quarterly collateral kit, consistent lead capture, and follow-up within 48 hours.
- Help Shape employer brand: build the Working at Sift and Why I Joined programs into a real cadence, and make the engineers the protagonists of our content.
- Own speaking submissions and sponsorships, coordinated with comms.
- Treat all of it as a growth portfolio: measure each program, kill what does not convert, and double down on what does.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 4+ years in field marketing, growth, events, brand, or community, with real ownership of a calendar, a budget, and a number.
- Time inside a company during the stretch when it became a place people wanted to work, with a clear account of what you specifically owned.
- Proof you can make an IRL moment travel online: events you ran that became posts people actually saw, shared, and showed up because of.
- A real presence on or fluency with Twitter, especially the hard tech and defense tech corners of it.
- A track record of running a hosted format people ask to be invited to.
- A real Bay Area network in hard tech, defense tech, robotics, or autonomy.
- Equal comfort with vibe and funnel: has made things that were simply great, and has shipped work with attribution behind it, and refuses to choose between the two.
- Production instinct: comfortable directing video, photography, and editorial and getting it out the door fast.
- Operational exactness: contracts, deposits, shipping deadlines, badge scanners, vendor invoices.
- Comfort in the CRM and marketing automation stack, building your own invite lists and running your own campaigns.
- Willingness to travel: roughly one show a month in season, plus regular time in LA and periodic trips to DC.
BONUS POINTS:
- Experience marketing in NDA-constrained environments, where much of what customers do cannot be named on a banner.
- Experience opening a new market or city for a company previously concentrated in one place.
- Existing relationships with venue, production, and experiential vendors in San Francisco.
- Experience running partner and co-marketing motions, including shared booths and co-hosted events.
LOCATION:
This role is based in our San Francisco office at 211 Sutter Street and is in person four days a week. Sift’s headquarters is in Marina Del Rey, CA (next to LAX); expect regular travel to LA, roughly one industry event per month in season, and periodic travel to Washington, DC. We come together as a company for a full week every three months.
Salary range: $125,000 - $175,000 per year. Plus equity and benefits.
ELIGIBILITY:
U.S. Person Required: Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee in compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) / EAR (Export Administration Regulations) regulations.
