• Intermittent work on evenings and weekends during critical time periods required.
• Position qualifies for hybrid telework.
• Assignment effective September 1 - December 31, 2026
One position open to University of Texas at Austin graduate students only This position has possibility to extend into Spring semester and includes Tuition Reduction Benefit (TRB).
Purpose
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Research Assistant to join the Office of Governmental Affairs & Initiatives. The Graduate Research Assistant will support the team by researching, planning, and executing the office’s strategic engagement activities. The position will allow a graduate student to gain valuable knowledge working at the intersection of policy and higher education. It will also allow them to receive real hands-on experience executing high caliber programming and projects by collaborating with stakeholders across campus.
Responsibilities • Supports the engagement work of the Governmental Affairs Office, including but not limited to, the planning and execution of programming and multiple events.
• Regularly updates the CRM database and ensures the accuracy of its records.
• Monitors local, state, and federal policy as needed.
• Conducts research and analysis to support various projects.
• Provides limited administrative support.
Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree; currently enrolled, in good standing, as a graduate student at UT.
• Proficient in event planning and execution.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications • Previous experience in a similar role or internship is desirable.
• Interest in the intersection of engagement, higher education policy and/or in government.
• Familiarity with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.
Salary $25.00 hourly
Working Conditions • May work around standard office conditions.
• Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
