Job Description: Position: Field Service Technician Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group - 3rd Eye Location: Remote Reports To: Field Service Manager Department: Field Service
Position Summary: The Field Service Technician will perform routine service and maintenance for regionally installed base of 3rd Eye products including onboard computers, external cameras, monitors, radar systems, and vehicle cabling. This person will troubleshoot equipment in person, general and technical information, and perform field service work and assist customers with problems associated with these areas. This also includes reports on warranty and quality of all products manufactured by 3rd Eye. Visit customer sites in the waste and recycling industry according to a provided schedule and route, with regular travel throughout the region, which could be up to 75%. Install additional 3rd Eye products at the customer site as needed.
Essential Job Functions Include: Technical Service Responsibilities: • Receives customer inquiries regarding all company products and resolves customer problems. Includes trouble-shooting assistance via telephone and ability to repair the products in the field. • May visually inspect products at various stages of production process to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. • Completes periodic reports. Includes evaluating data collecting and writing summaries to validate or show deviations from quality standards. Present pertinent information from field start-ups in writing or orally. • Drives company vehicle and uses airlines for field service visits. Includes assisting customers with installations, training, troubleshooting, etc. Involves lifting and carrying parts weighing up to 40 pounds. • Requires willingness and ability to travel as needed (occasionally on short notice), and uses a valid company credit card. • Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or other schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required to meet departmental goals and objectives. • Regular travel throughout the region, which could be up to 75%. • Typical work hours are 3PM-11PM based on our customers’ vehicle availability.
Demo Fleet Job Responsibilities: • Will be representative to our and consumers. A professional image must be maintained at all times whether driving, at events, or with dealers. While on the road this is a 24/7 responsibility. • Will be supporting the local area sales representatives doing clinics with our retailers. There will be some occasions where local area sales representative may not be at the event. • Prepares and tests all equipment, assuring 100% product operation for all product demonstrations, including maintaining and/or troubleshooting equipment.
Other Job Functions: • Attends required training sessions, workshops, seminars, etc. • Work with Engineering as needed on research and development of new equipment. • Performs other various duties as may be assigned.
• Attends trade shows and customer events as required.
Job Specifications: • Associates Degree, Technical School, or equivalent work experience required. • 5 years plus combined experience in general automotive, commercial electronics, and waste recycle industry vehicle knowledge:
• 12 Volt automotive knowledge with minimum of 2 years prior experience. • Basic electronics testing knowledge including use of voltmeter, power probe, and test lights. • General knowledge of automotive equipment such as commercial trucks, waste and recycling collection vehicles, and light-duty passenger vehicles with minimum of 2 years experience. • Must be very self-motivating, proactive, and have a self-starter personality with a “can do” attitude looking to be a team player. Must also have the ability to work independently while following direction from a remote management.
• Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of company provided service van including all associated tools and product inventory. • Effectively and professionally communicate with customers via phone and in person. • Ability to operate company provided smartphone and Android tablet technologies for reporting and documentation along with basic computer skills. • Quickly become a subject matter expert on all company product lines, kits, and accessories. • Must be detail oriented with a thorough approach to note taking and documentation. • Must have a driver’s license and be insurable and bondable.
Requirements: Education: Associates Degree, Technical School, or equivalent work experience required. Requires a High School diploma or GED. Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, and lists; ability to operate personal computer, smartphone, and tablet based technologies. Knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience. Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate near moving vehicles and machinery approximately 100% of time. Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 50%, repetitive lifting of equipment during installation approximately 20% of the time, involves repetitive overhead work approximately 20% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 10% of time. Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms and feet for continuous movement in and out of vehicles; use of hands and arms to operate tools and equipment while working on vehicle. Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes. Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required.
