Job Duties: Join a team that helps power the UW-Green Bay experience. As a Facilities Technician III, you will play a vital role in maintaining, repairing, and improving our campuses through skilled construction, remodeling, preventative maintenance, and facility repair work. From investigating and repairing building issues, installing and finishing drywall, painting, flooring, ceilings, and office furniture repairs to guiding student employees on construction projects, your work will directly support safe, welcoming, and high-quality learning environments for students, employees, and visitors. This position also provides expertise in estimating materials, coordinating repairs, assisting skilled trades, and ensuring campus facilities operate at their best. Key Job Responsibilities: • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
• Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
• Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
• Performs skilled building maintenance, construction, and remodeling work, including repairing facilities and furnishings, directing project staff, estimating and ordering materials, and installing or repairing drywall, paint, ceilings, flooring, and other building components to commercial standards.
• Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
Department: Facilities Management - Building Maintenance
Compensation: Minimum compensation of $24.00.
This position will earn an additional $0.80 per hour for all weekend hours worked, as well as for all hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
This position is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Required Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent at time of application • 2 years of experience in carpentry or commercial maintenance area. • Must have knowledge of mechanical and building repairs. • Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment, and safety methods used in the performance of job. • Basic computer skills including the knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid drivers license upon appointment
Preferred Qualifications: • Associates degree or 5 years work experience in the commercial or industrial area. • Proficient in all aspects of the carpentry and maintenance fields. • Experience in common cause of mechanical failures, structural and mechanical diagnostic and repair procedures. • Knowledge and experience welding and metal cutting tasks. • Strong organization skills and ability to effectively prioritize workloads and maintain accurate records. • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Qualifications: • Physical strength and stamina to perform required work including being able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and work on feet for long periods of time. • Ability to climb and work at considerable heights and/or in confined spaces under adverse conditions.
Conditions of Appointment: Position is a full-time University Staff appointment. The work hours for this position will be 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday on the Green Bay campus.
A criminal conviction investigation and pre-work screen examination will be conducted on the finalist(s). In addition, if the final selected candidate has prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct will be completed. A six-month probationary period is required for this position. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record.
