About this role
At Gradient Labs, we're building the AI customer operations platform for financial services.
Founded in 2023, we now work with some of the biggest names in banking and fintech. Our platform runs specialist agents, purpose-built for financial services, to eliminate manual work across customer support and back-office operations. Together, they give product and operations teams the visibility and control to trust every outcome.
We're a team of builders from companies like Monzo, Wise, Mastercard, Revolut and Google. If you think financial services should feel more human, come and build the best AI agents with people who’ve built the biggest names in Fintech!
SHORT ON TIME? TL;DR
You: A senior B2B event marketer (5-8 years experience) who's run global events programmes end to end, ideally in fintech or a high growth startup
Us: A global team of 43 where events are our 2nd highest ROI growth channel - 30+ events run this year already, 13 more in the next few months
Level: Senior
Location: EST / EDT or GMT [UK only]
WHY WE NEED YOU NOW
Events are our second highest ROI growth channel, and right now that's still being run without a dedicated owner. Beth https://www.linkedin.com/in/beth-toms/ has been supporting us part time for the past couple of months and we're now ready to bring in someone who’s an expert in this space.
This is the first dedicated event marketing hire at Gradient Labs, which means you'd have full ownership over our events strategy from day one. You'll be reporting into Emma https://www.linkedin.com/in/emma-furlong/ our Head of Marketing and working closely day to day with Elizabeth https://www.linkedin.com/in/elizabeth-shew-a5b9abb4/, Eros https://www.linkedin.com/in/eros-olmi/ and Chris https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrismackrill/ on all things marketing (we’re half in EST and the other half in GMT). You’ll be working closely with our GTM team, led by Zan https://www.linkedin.com/in/zanfaruqui/ - to make sure every event creates real pipeline, and coordinate with our AI Delivery team when events call for product expertise (you will meet Zan throughout the hiring process). Events are a team effort and given our size, you'll get to know everyone, including our three founders who lean into events a huge amount!
You're also not starting from nothing. We've already got automations in place across Notion, Slack, Luma and HubSpot that take the busywork out of running events, so you can spend your time on strategy, relationships, and the moments that actually move deals forward.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Run the global events programme end to end: Source, evaluate, negotiate and execute our conferences, meetups, webinars, and self hosted events across the US, UK, and Europe. You'll be managing multiple events at a time, from first scoping conversation through to post-event follow-up.
- Negotiate the deals: Own sponsorship contracts, vendor terms, and partner agreements, and know when a deal is actually worth doing.
- Partner with our GTM team on what actually matters: Get deep on our ICP, help prioritise which events are worth our time, get the right team members on the flight and make sure every event is designed around real conversations with the right prospects - not vanity metrics! Eros https://www.linkedin.com/in/eros-olmi/ our GTM Engineer will work with you on securing attendees.
- Build out our partner event plan of action: Co-host with our tech partners to get in front of new audiences and markets. Our last few were sell out events with Legora https://legora.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw4dDTBhAqEiwAkHYmSrazyczLmDrg1DVwLO-583-u6ALBHOVVd7f8F_LAp8KMxQ_W4hmRGxoCeGAQAvD_BwE&campaignid=22632109429&adgroupid=180295919213&adid=783219712953&device=c&placement=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=S_Others_Brand-XX&utm_content=&utm_term=legora&hsa_acc=6341003195&hsa_cam=22632109429&hsa_grp=180295919213&hsa_ad=783219712953&hsa_src=g&hsa_tgt=kwd-748623054180&hsa_kw=legora&hsa_mt=e&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22632109429&gbraid=0AAAAA-5K9xww2yIj7w48gzaltlUekzTTV&gclid=CjwKCAjw4dDTBhAqEiwAkHYmSrazyczLmDrg1DVwLO-583-u6ALBHOVVd7f8F_LAp8KMxQ_W4hmRGxoCeGAQAvD_BwE, Witan Labs https://www.witanlabs.com/ and DeepGram https://deepgram.com/ for example. Right now, Neal https://www.linkedin.com/in/nlathia/ our Founder & CTO, is owning this.
- Track what's working and get better every time: You’ll keep a close eye on the prospects we meet at events, tracking attendees on Hubspot and encouraging the sales team to follow up - every event is our opportunity to get better the next time!
- Communication async as the default: Brief our amazing brand designer Chris https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrismackrill/, work with Elizabeth https://www.linkedin.com/in/elizabeth-shew-a5b9abb4/ on social pushes, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks, all without needing a meeting to do it. We try to default to async transparent comms so you’ll be able to keep the calendar, plans, and post-event learnings visible to everyone.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Senior B2B event experience: 5-8 years running event marketing end to end in high growth startups / scale ups. In finance would be a big plus but not a requirement. The main thing is that you've owned an events programme and a budget before, not just executed against someone else's plan.
- Negotiation is your thing: You're comfortable working sponsorship contracts and vendor terms, and you know where you can push and where you can't to get the best deal.
- Creative instinct: You don't do generic. You know how to curate events that people remember and talk about, whether that's the venue, the format, or the small details that make something feel intentional.
- Sales / commercial instinct: You understand what sales actually needs from events and build a calendar around pipeline, not attendance numbers. You're thinking about follow-up before the event even starts.
- Organisational rigour: You keep ten moving par
