Job Summary
• Responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures, and strategic goals within their assigned region, plant, and project scope. • Responsible for preparing, advising, and assisting management on the administration of safety and health (S&H) event prevention policies and procedures, including public safety matters. • Responsible for coordinating and implementing the safety and health programs within their assigned region, or facility. • Works with corporate Safety and Health management in the development and implementation of advanced safety and health training programs applicable to their geographic region or technical expertise. What you’ll do: • Instructs, advises, and assists management and personnel to carry out the company's environmental, safety and health programs.
• Prepares and delivers training and familiarization topics of the company's environmental, safety and health programs to employees
• Conducts observations and coaching of AEP personnel to ensure the successful implementation of the company's safety and health programs.
• Provides support during environmental, safety, and health compliance audits and inspections.
• Coordinates and responds to public inquiries regarding environmental matters.
• Develops and maintains environmental documents and records for compliance regulations.
• Advises and assists management in post-event safety and health causal analysis
• Provides support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making any necessary agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing clean-up efforts, and follow-up reports with regulatory agencies.
• Maintains a good working knowledge of any applicable federal, state, or local rules and regulations pertaining to safety and health.
• Promotes and enforces the company's safety and health event prevention programs.
What we’re looking for:
Environmental, Safety & Health Coordinator Sr – (SG7) • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or another relevant field.
• OR associate degree in a relevant field with four years of experience in power plant or utility field operations.
• OR High School Diploma/GED with six years of experience in Environmental, Safety & Health program administration and related field experience.
• In addition to the education requirements listed, a minimum of four years of experience in Environmental, Safety and Health program administration, or a minimum of four years of experience power plant or utility field operations.
Other requirements: • Proficient oral and written skills
• Basic computer skills are required
• Position involves daily travel with occasional overnight travel
• Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence
• Must be physically able to climb 300 feet of ladder and work on elevated platforms.
• The maximum weight of the employee is 265lbs due to limitations associated with climbing safety equipment
Should have an advanced understanding of the following programs and concepts: • OSHA regulations
• Safe electrical work practices
• Clearance / Lock Out Tag Out requirements and procedures
• GWO safety standards for working at heights and advanced rescue
• Confined space regulations and procedures, including confined space rescue
• Environmental requirements for above ground and underground storage tanks
• Transportation of hazardous materials
• Spill prevention control and countermeasures
• Oil & chemical spill response and management
• Wastewater, storm water, and drinking water sampling, reporting and controls
• Pollution preventing
• Federal and state wildlife conservation policies
Licenses / Certifications: • Valid driver’s license
In addition: • Travel time ranges from 60 to 80% with some overnight stays required on occasion.
• Flexibility on work schedule.
Where you’ll work: • This role is working remotely due to travel, but prefer the candidate be living in or near Fort Wayne, IN, Beason, IL, Grover Hill, OH or Roanoke, VA
