Overall Job Summary:   The Associate Test Engineer supports the development of, testing, and manufacturing of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products. This role assists with product validation, manufacturing test processes, equipment maintenance, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, the Associate Test Engineer helps ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance while gaining hands-on experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Job Responsibilities: Support Product Development & Testing  • Assist senior engineers in designing, developing, and validating hardware and software test programs.  

• Develop and validate automated test programs and fixtures.  

• Write and maintain detailed test procedures for manufacturing test teams, including setup, execution, and data capture   

Quality & Process Improvement  • Apply Six Sigma and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) tools to improve BESS manufacturing processes and reduce defects   

• Analyze test failure to identify root causes and implement corrective actions   

• Work with manufacturing floor teams to reduce and eliminate test escapes (defective units passing initial tests)   

Equipment & Fixture Management  • Coordinate selection and qualification of test equipment for manufacturing   

• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing failed test equipment or electronic assemblies   

• Provide training to manufacturing test technicians on proper use of test equipment and fixtures   

Collaboration & Communication  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, QA, IT) to ensure BESS product compliance and integration   

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation (as-built drawings, test specs, reports)   

• Participate in product design sprints, commissioning, and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) activities   

Technical & Analytical Tasks  • Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting to support BESS performance and reliability evaluations   

• Use engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, ANSYS) for design, simulation, and analysis   

• Stay updated on industry trends, BESS technologies, and regulatory standards to ensure compliance   

Education/Experience : • Associates degree in an engineering discipline required

• 0-2 years of engineering experience

• Experience through coursework, laboratories, senior design projects, internships, or co-op programs involving engineering problem solving, testing, or product development.

• Basic understanding of engineering principles, data analysis, and troubleshooting techniques.

Travel • Local Travel: 10 – 25%

Working Conditions • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.  Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

• Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
