Towson University Hillel
Role Overview
Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Towson University Hillel as the Engagement Associate. You will build one-on-one relationships with students, facilitate fantastic programs around campus, and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life and community. You will be responsible for expanding our ability to reach students where they are, supporting their engagement, and cultivating experiences that enrich their lives.
This role is ideal for an early-career professional—especially someone with experience in Jewish summer camps, experiential education, or youth groups—who is excited to work directly with students, build community through shared experiences, and reach students who may not see themselves in traditional Hillel spaces. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, always knows how to make room at the table for a new face, and understands that engagement in Jewish life looks different for everyone.
What You’ll Do
Relationship Building & Student Outreach
• Build authentic, ongoing relationships with Jewish students from diverse cohorts and demographics through one-on-one conversations, small group engagements, tabling, and a warm presence at campus programs and events.
• Implement a consistent engagement strategy with students as follow up to program and event attendance to deepen their connection to the Hillel community.
Creative Programming & Experiential Education
• Support the planning and execution of Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, and social programming.
• Serve as an experiential Jewish educator nurturing the Jewish growth of others through conversations and actions.
Student Leadership & Mentorship
• Empower and mentor student leaders , advising members of the student executive board and committees to cultivate a caring, actively inclusive Jewish community.
• Support and champion student-initiated programs (including evenings, weekends, and Jewish holidays) to ensure they are welcoming and impactful.
Administration & Operations
• Manage program logistics including purchasing, inventory of supplies, and Hillel merchandise.
• Maintain accurate records of event attendance and student metrics in our tracking systems for ongoing evaluation and impact measurement.
What You’ll Bring to the Job
• Bachelor’s degree is required. 0–3 years of work experience (such as internships, student leadership, camp counseling, or youth group involvement) is preferred.
• A self-starter who is comfortable taking creative risks, problem-solving on the fly, and learning from both wins and losses.
• A passion for meeting new people, learning their stories, and helping college students navigate their Jewish journeys.
• Comfort embracing your own Jewish identity—or an excitement to actively figure that out and grow alongside our students.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams. Highly flexible and comfortable working the non-traditional hours needed to support campus life, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Energy, a healthy sense of humor, maturity, and a welcoming presence.
What You’ll Receive
• Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $45,000 - $49,000. This position is available as a 10-month, 11-month,or 12-month role at a pro-rated salary.

• Great professional development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities.
