The Aerospace Corporation’s Experiment Lab,   xLab , develops prototypes, instruments, pathfinders, and demonstration systems to address our customers’ hardest problems at the speed of need. We engage with our customers to conceptualize innovative solutions and deliver impactful products for ground and space and everything in between. We are looking for engineers with a passion for design, a commitment to teamwork and a desire to help   xLab   make a difference to today’s challenges .

We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager to support our Sensors and Systems department.

The selected candidate will   be required   to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

What You’ll Be Doing • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff, providing regular feedback, career guidance, and professional development opportunities • Build technical depth across the engineering staff through targeted training, knowledge sharing, and hands-on mentoring in electrical engineering disciplines • Serve as a key contributor to department strategy development, translating organizational goals into actionable team objectives and initiatives • Support implementation of organizational and department initiatives to standardize and unify engineering processes • Provide technical leadership and hands-on contributions for fast-paced prototype design across the electrical engineering lifecycle, including concept development, design, test, and integration activities • Collaborate with xLab leadership and cross-functional teams to identify customer needs, allocate resources, and deliver high-impact projects on schedule • Foster a team culture that embodies the Leadership Competency Model (LCM) principles of  People  (developing talent and building high-performing teams),  Accountability  (driving results and owning outcomes), and  Strategic  thinking (aligning team efforts with organizational priorities)

What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline • 8+ years of experience in rapid prototype and first-of-a-kind concept development for space applications • 2+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising, mentoring, or managing technical staff • Proven ability to provide constructive feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and guide career development for engineering professionals • Strong technical background across electrical engineering lifecycle activities, including design, testing, and integration • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: • Master's or PhD degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline • 10+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or space systems engineering with progressive leadership responsibilities • Experience managing early career professionals or new graduates in a technical environment • Track record of contributing to strategic planning and successfully implementing organizational initiatives • Active security clearance

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

(Min - Max) $134,200.00 - $201,300.00
