The EHS Manager will lead all environmental compliance, permitting, sustainability, and facility health and safety oversight activities for a new greenfield manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for securing and maintaining environmental permits, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, establishing environmental and safety programs, conducting environmental impact reviews, and developing management systems from the ground up.

The EHS Manager will partner closely with engineering, construction, operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to ensure environmental and safety requirements are integrated throughout facility design, construction, startup, and ongoing operations.

This position serves as the site's primary environmental subject matter expert and plays a critical role in establishing a compliant, safe, sustainable, and operationally efficient facility.

What You’ll Do Environmental Permitting & Regulatory Compliance • Lead the environmental permitting strategy and obtain all required permits, registrations, and approvals necessary for facility construction and operation.

• Serve as the primary point of contact with environmental regulatory agencies, consultants, and external stakeholders.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, permits, and corporate standards at the local, state, and federal levels.

• Monitor regulatory developments and assess potential impacts on facility operations and compliance requirements.

• Prepare, review, and submit required environmental reports, permit applications, renewals, and regulatory filings.

Greenfield Facility Development • Partner with project teams, architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate environmental requirements into facility design and construction activities.

• Conduct environmental due diligence, site assessments, and environmental impact evaluations.

• Review construction equipment and operational plans to identify environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.

• Support commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities to ensure all environmental requirements are met prior to production launch.

• Coordinate environmental compliance activities associated with facility expansions, modifications, and capital projects.

Health & Safety Leadership • Direct health and safety policies, procedures, and oversight through dedicated and support resources.

• Define the site's health and safety approach, strategy, policies, programs, and resource requirements necessary to execute EHS objectives effectively.

• Work closely and effectively with operations leaders and support personnel to implement and sustain health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and training initiatives that promote safe work practices and regulatory compliance.

• Serve as the site's health and safety subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company standards, and applicable industry requirements.

• Investigate and evaluate new equipment, processes, and facility modifications to ensure safe operation and identify potential risks before implementation.

• Support the development and execution of training programs that increase employee proficiency in safe work practices and reinforce a strong safety culture.

• Maintain health and safety records, documentation, certifications, regulatory reports, and compliance files required for facility operations.

• Lead and support workplace health and safety inspections, audits, reviews, industrial hygiene evaluations, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to identify and mitigate risks.

• Develop and implement incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action, and recurrence prevention processes.

• Partner with designated safety champions, supervisors, and leadership teams to support accident investigations and safety improvement initiatives.

• Direct industrial hygiene, occupational health, ergonomics, and general safety programs to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment.

• Lead emergency preparedness efforts, response planning, drills, and provide leadership during emergency situations.

• Establish health and safety performance metrics and reporting processes to drive accountability and continuous improvement.

• Foster a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Environmental Program Development • Develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental management systems, policies, procedures, and programs.

• Establish programs for air emissions, wastewater management, stormwater compliance, hazardous waste management, chemical management, and pollution prevention.

• Create environmental monitoring, sampling, reporting, and recordkeeping systems.
