Pima County Regional Reclamation Wastewater department is currently seeking a Driver II with a reliable and punctual track record. We deliver to our satellite warehouses, pick up specimens, and deliver them to our lab. As a team player, you will have the opportunity to be trained in our inventory control process. Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. • Drives assigned motor vehicles, adhering to traffic and safety regulations;
• Performs preventative maintenance and operator-level servicing of vehicles, including routine inspections and fluid checks;
• Maintains records for vehicle usage, maintenance, repairs, and fuel consumption;
• Coordinates necessary vehicle servicing, repairs, and routine maintenance with Fleet Services or relevant dealerships;
• Ensures vehicles are compliant with Arizona Department of Transportation regulations, including registration and inspections;
• Schedules transportation, determining the most efficient and safest routes;
• Selects appropriate sites for setting up mobile service vehicles, ensuring safety, access, and utility requirements;
• Establish and manage utility connections (e.g., electricity, water, waste disposal) to the vehicle from fixed points;
• Operates and monitor auxiliary power generators to supply electricity to the vehicle and peripheral equipment;
• Conduct safety inspections of vehicle setup sites to maintain safe working conditions for staff and the public;
• Performs routine clerical tasks, sorts and distributes mail;
• Packs and unpacks boxes of books and other library materials;
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicle interior;
• May assist in back room check in of library materials;
• Daily check of email;
• Timely and accurate communication via phone, in person and email.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience operating a variety of motor vehicles (including automobiles, vans, buses, and specialized transport vehicles) with a focus on safe and efficient driving in diverse conditions.
OR:
One year of experience with Pima County in a Driver I or closely related position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications : (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
• Minimum six ( 6) months experience in customer service
• Minimum six (6) months experience in handling specimen.
• Minimum six ( 6) months experience providing delivery or messenger service requiring the use of a motor vehicle (automobile, truck, or van).
Selection Procedure: Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information:
Licenses and Certificates : Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
Special Notice Items : The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. This position will require a post-job offer physical and/or drug screen.
