Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.  Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

JOB SUMMARY:    The Director of Value-Based Care at Mental Health Cooperative (MHC) will lead the organization’s efforts to improve patient outcomes through high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centered care. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance care coordination, delivery of appropriate care , and maximize performance. The Director will work closely with clinical and operational teams to align initiatives with MHC’s mission and strategic objectives . Additionally, this role will provide leadership in learning and development for care management roles at MHC, ensuring staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to support value-based care initiatives.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Strategic Leadership:    

Develop and execute MHC’s value-based care strategy, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.  

• Quality & Performance Improvement:    

Implement initiatives ( including audit, compliance , and quality functions ) to enhance patient outcomes, reduce costs, and improve key performance indicators related to value-based care models.  

• Data Analytics & Reporting:    

Utilize data-driven insights to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive decision-making to optimize care delivery.  

• Collaboration & Integration:    

Partner with internal departments, healthcare providers, payers, and community organizations to enhance care coordination and operational efficiency.  

• Training & Development:    

Educate staff on value-based care principles, performance metrics, and best practices to drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.  

• Learning & Development:    

Provide leadership in the training and professional development of care management roles at MHC, ensuring team members are well-prepared to deliver effective and coordinated care.  

• Regulatory Compliance:    

Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and payer-specific regulations related to value-based care models.  

• Financial Oversight:    

Work with finance teams to develop budgets, track financial performance, and maximize reimbursement opportunities under value-based contracts.

REQUIREMENTS:    

E sse n t i a l S k i l l s a nd E x pe r i e n c e :  

• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology , Social Work (MSW), Healthcare Administration, or related field.

• LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) preferred .  

• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role within integrated care, behavioral health, or substance use services .  

• Strong understanding of value-based payment models, risk-based contracting, and healthcare quality metrics.  

• Proven ability to analyze healthcare data, identify trends, and implement performance improvement initiatives.  

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.  

• Experience working within behavioral health or mental health settings is a plus.
