SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :  

The Director of Strategic Planning & Marketing is responsible for leading business unit strategic planning, growth marketing, and portfolio direction to drive sustainable, profitable growth. This role connects long-range strategy (STRAT) with annual operating plans (AOP) and market-facing execution, translating customer insight, market data, and 80/20 analysis into clear priorities and action. The role leads the identification, analysis, planning and implementation of market & product initiatives across geographies in conjunction with business unit global leadership team executives and product managers. The role serves as a senior thought partner to leadership, aligning global market strategy, product portfolio, commercialization, and marketing execution to ensure BAND‑IT focuses resources on the highest-value customers, segments, and applications. Key Responsibilities Strategic Planning & Business Strategy • Lead the Strategic Planning (STRAT) process, including development, refresh, and annual review of long-range (3–5 year) and mid-term (12–18 month) strategic priorities. • Translate strategic priorities into AOP inputs, key initiatives, and measurable outcomes in partnership with Finance, Sales, Engineering and Operations.

• Directs market analysis on mega-trends and key industry changes to identify business unit strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT).  Conduct portfolio, segment, and market analysis to identify growth opportunities, gaps, and risks.

• Leads analysis of Total Addressable Market, Served Available Market, and Target Market;

• Apply 80/20 principles to products, customers, segments, and applications to optimize focus, investment, and returns. • Provide strategic insight and recommendations to senior leadership on growth investments, resource allocation, and market expansion.

Strategic & Growth Marketing Leadership • Analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates short- and long-term business strategies and market initiatives in collaboration with business unit leadership. • Lead go-to-market strategy, including positioning, messaging, pricing collaboration, and launch excellence for new and existing offerings. • Oversee growth marketing strategy, including demand generation, funnel optimization, account-based marketing, and lead development. • Ensure marketing programs support sales enablement, pipeline development, and customer acquisition goals. • Connect customer insight, market data, and digital analytics to continuously improve marketing effectiveness. • Owns digital marketing from strategy to execution including category experiences, creation of digital content and marketing plans.

Portfolio & Commercial Alignment • Leads the development of strategies and plans to promote products and services across multiple market segments and sales channels. • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Sales to ensure portfolio strategy aligns with customer needs and BAND‑IT core competencies. • Provide leadership for Product Management in achieving it product lifecycle management and margin optimization goals. • Support new product development (NPD) from a market and commercialization perspective, aligning front-end strategy and back-end launch execution. • Collaborate on pricing strategy and value proposition development, ensuring clear differentiation and value-based messaging.

Leadership & Cross‑Functional Influence • Lead, develop, and mentor strategic and marketing talent, setting clear expectations and accountability. • Act as a key interface for Marketing and Product Management with IDEX corporate and segment level leaders. • Present insights, recommendations, and performance updates to executive leadership. • Foster a culture of data-driven decision making, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Extensive marketing and product management knowledge. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management, Engineering or Business Administration required; Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred. • At least 8+ years of related experience required. • Strong analytical capability, including market analysis, financial acumen, and 80/20 application. • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and lead cross-functional initiatives. • Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning (STRAT), AOP alignment, and portfolio strategy.

Physical Demands: • Requires use of hands and arms at least 60% of the time. • Majority of the time is spent sitting. • Lifting requirements are generally less than 10 lbs.  Manual lifting could reach the company maximum of 35 lbs.

Work Environment: • Time is primarily spent in a climate-controlled office environment with balance in the shop. • Noise exposure is moderate.
