Position Description :  

Designs, architects, builds, and automates customized data pipelines that integrate multiple ingress sources and consumers, including Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and back-end batch applications (Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL)), to power user-facing web applications across mainframe and distributed technology environments.   Analyzes and designs data flows for mainframe and web-based brokerage and equity compensation application development.   Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications.   Researches   and   recommends   new technologies   in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and   participates   in the research and recommendation of   appropriate models , methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions .   

Primary Responsibilities:  

• Leads and mentors engineering teams, driving technical strategy and ensuring successful delivery of business   objectives .   

• Defines and executes technology roadmaps, delivering scalable and innovative solutions for complex challenges.   

• Collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align technical initiatives with organizational goals.   

• Oversees the full project life cycle for multi-platform programs, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.   

• Promotes best practices in software development, architecture, and quality assurance across the organization.   

• Fosters a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and team development to   maintain   a competitive advantage.  

• Provides technical mentorship to team members, guiding them through challenges and leading them toward successful outcomes.  

• Applies business knowledge to translate divisional strategic vision into actionable business solutions by developing multiple software applications and conducting alternative solution studies.   

• Evaluates and recommends changes to project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies for development experts and management.   

• Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy   to   architectural strategy.  

• R ecommendations at the functional level.  

• Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.  

• Identifies   and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.  

• Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.  

• Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.  

• Consults on the documentation of major technology   application .  

• Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.  

• Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.  

• Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.  

• Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.  

• Provides leadership, technical supervision, and   expertise   to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.  

• Researches   and   recommends   new technologies .  

• Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.  

• Identifies   and plans for future resource needs.  

• Determines   technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit .  

Education and Experience :  

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) delivering data solutions for Master Data Management (MDM) focused on person-related data, leveraging mainframe, Java, and Oracle technologies.  

Or, alternatively,   Master’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) delivering data solutions for Master Data Management (MDM) focused on person-related data, leveraging mainframe, Java, and Oracle technologies .  

Skills and Knowledge :  

Candidate must also   possess :  

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”)   executing mainframe application development, test automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, Java, Web Services, and SQL; performing file formatting and comparisons with File-Aid; reviewing source code version control using Endeavor; debugging and unit testing applications using Intertest and Abend-Aid; and scheduling jobs using Control-M .    

• DE   performing mainframe application development and performance tuning within Time Sharing Option (TSO) and Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) operating system environments; developing applications using   Endevor , Git, and ClearCase for version control, Control-M for scheduling, Abend-AID and Intertest for debugging, File-Aid for browsing, and   Easytrieve   for report generation; and conducting performance tuning and capacity planning -- reducing Input/Output (I/ Os ), Central Processing Unit (CPU) time, Million Service Unit (MSUs), and Million Instructions Per Second (MIPs) -- using Strobe,   iStrobe , Platinum Detector, and Transaction Monitor (TMON) .   

• DE   building web applications using Angular 10+, Node.js, NPM, HTML5, and JavaScript; and defining web application formatting rules and responsive designs using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Sassy Cascading Style Sheets (SCSS) .   

• DE   performing Continuous Development, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), using Docker, Jenkins,   uDeploy , GIT,
