Disney Kids & Family’s Multiplatform Content team develops and manages a growing portfolio of short-form and platform-native content that brings beloved Disney characters and stories to audiences wherever they are watching — including YouTube, Disney+, linear, social media, and emerging platforms. The team pairs Disney storytelling with an agile, audience-informed approach, experimenting with new formats and platforms while using data, insights, and partner feedback to guide creative decisions. The department manages three core content slates: Kids Animation, Kids Live Action, and Preschool.
The Director, Multiplatform Content will lead the strategy and creative execution for one assigned content slate. Reporting to the Vice President, Multiplatform Content, this role serves as a creative executive, digital strategist, and key partner to internal IP stakeholders. The Director will develop and execute platform-specific content plans that reflect audience behavior, creative priorities, and business goals.
The ideal candidate is a creative and strategic leader with deep fluency in digital platforms, strong judgment in creative development and execution, and the ability to build trusted relationships with creative teams, cross-functional partners, and senior leaders.
Responsibilities:
Creative Leadership • Provide creative direction across the assigned slate, including formats, concepts, scripts, storyboards, shoots, editorial cuts, scores, mixes, thumbnails, metadata, and promotional materials.
• Partner with the Vice President, Multiplatform Content and key stakeholders on creative and strategic decisions.
• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with writers, directors, and other creative talent across traditional entertainment and digital creator communities, including YouTube, TikTok, and other emerging platforms.
• Champion an agile, experimentation-forward culture by supporting creative testing across emerging platforms and new storytelling formats.
Strategy and Execution • Lead multiplatform strategy for the assigned slate in partnership with the Vice President, Multiplatform Content.
• Analyze content performance, audience behavior, and platform feedback, translating data and insights into creative and strategic recommendations for current and future projects.
• Partner with Production, Casting, Music, and other cross-functional teams to manage project schedules and support delivery on time and within budget.
• Develop and maintain project briefs, track key milestones, and proactively troubleshoot issues to keep projects moving forward.
• Coach, develop, and provide direction to team members supporting the assigned slate.
Stakeholder and Partner Management • Partner with IP stakeholders to develop and execute content plans that support creative, audience, and business priorities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between IP stakeholders and platform teams, representing Multiplatform Content priorities while surfacing partner needs and feedback.
• Manage the sharing of assets, promotional materials, and key information across internal teams, external partners, and platforms.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships across partners and leadership by seeking feedback, adapting to evolving project needs, and driving toward shared goals and outcomes.
Basic Qualifications: • 8+ years of experience in content strategy, digital or multiplatform content, short-form or social video, creative development, or production, ideally within media, entertainment, streaming, or a related industry.
• Demonstrated experience providing creative direction for short-form, digital, or platform-native content while balancing creative, business, and audience objectives.
• Proven ability to develop and grow audiences through content strategy, creative execution, and performance-informed decision making.
• Experience leading projects from concept through delivery, including managing schedules, milestones, and cross-functional dependencies.
• Experience managing stakeholders and partners, including influencing senior-level stakeholders and translating partner needs into actionable plans.
• Deep understanding of digital platform workflows, formats, and audience behaviors, including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other social or emerging platforms.
• Comfort using data, insights, and platform feedback to inform creative and strategic recommendations.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear creative and strategic direction.
• Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous, and cross-functional environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with creative teams, production partners, platform teams, and senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications: • Hands-on experience producing, directing, or writing narrative, unscripted, short-form, or digital content.
• Hands-on experience creating content for YouTube, TikTok, or other social channels, including an understanding of always-on, data-informed creative development.
• Experience with non-traditional storytelling platforms and formats, such as interactive experiences, gaming platforms, podcasts, or VR.
• Familiarity with kids and family content, character-driven IP, and/or franchise storytelling.
• Experience partnering closely with creative, marketing, social, production, business, and finance teams within a content organization.
