About this role
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE JOB
Anduril's Arsenal campus in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Director, Material Planning & Flow to own the physical and logical movement of everything that enters, lives within, and exits the Arsenal factory. You will be responsible for the end-to-end choreography of materials, components, work-in-process, finished goods, and people across one of the most ambitious manufacturing environments in the world. Your charter is to ensure the right material, in the right quantity, in the right place, at the right time—with zero bottlenecks, zero pile-ups, and zero traffic jams. You'll partner across Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Facilities, and EHS to design and run a factory that flows. This is a leadership role for someone who has done it at scale, can think in systems, and is energized by building something from the ground up in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment. If you want to define how a next-generation state of the art manufacturing campus moves at rate, this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Own the strategy and execution for material flow, material planning, and intra-factory logistics across the entire Arsenal campus—from inbound receiving and storage through line-side delivery, work-in-process movement, and finished goods shipment.
• Design the factory's material flow from first principles—line layouts, storage strategies, point-of-use replenishment, and traffic patterns for both material and people—to eliminate bottlenecks before they happen.
• Proactively identify and resolve imbalances caused by inventory processes, line layouts, parts shortages, staffing constraints, and other production limitations; drive cross-functional resolution with the appropriate owners across Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality.
• Own the metrics, KPIs, and reporting that define a healthy, high-velocity factory—inventory accuracy, line-side availability, dock-to-stock time, dwell time, throughput, capacity utilization, and material-driven downtime.
• Establish the material planning function that aligns supply to highly variable demand across multiple programs and production maturities, from new product introduction through full-rate production.
• Translate data and modeling into actionable improvements on the floor, using Value Stream Mapping, line balancing, simulation, and Lean principles to continuously raise the bar.
• Partner with Facilities and Manufacturing Engineering on factory and line design to ensure material flow is engineered in—not bolted on—as Arsenal scales.
• Define the systems-of-record strategy for material movement, working with ERP, MES, and WMS teams to ensure data integrity and real-time visibility.
• Be relentless about incremental improvement. Push changes to the floor quickly, measure the impact, and iterate until we reach a world-class level.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in supply chain, material flow, or manufacturing operations in a high-rate environment where complex mechanical and/or electrical assemblies are built.
• 4+ years of experience leading and developing teams.
• Demonstrated ownership of material flow and/or material planning at scale, with measurable, sustainable improvements to throughput, inventory, and operational efficiency.
• Strong understanding of factory design, line layout, and intra-factory logistics for hardware manufacturing—electronics (PCBAs, sensor hardware), structures, mechanical components, and electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as drawings and CAD data.
• A data-driven, hands-on leader comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous, resource-limited environment.
• Ability to relocate, if not already local, to be onsite in Columbus, OH.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience standing up a new factory or production line from the ground up—value stream mapping, flow lines, continuous/one-piece flow, and workstation design.
• Proven ability to own a value chain end-to-end, instrumenting each step and converting data into actionable improvement.
• Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing principles to drive productivity without massive CAPEX (gemba walks, poka-yoke, kaizen).
• Deep experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and ERP platforms (NetSuite, Oracle, or similar).
• Experience with production simulation tools such as Siemens Plant Simulation or Process Simulation to model lines and run production scenarios.
• Experience interacting with SQL databases to track production and inventory-related metrics.
• Track record of presenting results and recommendations to cross-functional and executive stakeholders, clearly tying data to next steps.
• Experience working with manufacture of sensitive products in the defense sector.
