About this role
The Medical Informatics Director serves as a strategic partner to US Medical leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making through advanced analytics, measurement frameworks, customer insights, and technology-enabled solutions. The role leads the development of Medical Affairs KPI and impact-measurement approaches, targeting and segmentation analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities that strengthen execution excellence across assigned therapeutic areas. Working with Medical leaders, brand teams, Medical Excellence, Data Science and AI, IT, Global Business Services, and external partners, the role translates complex healthcare real world data into actionable recommendations and provides business leadership for key Medical Informatics platforms, including CRM and ATLAS. The position is based onsite in Wilmington, Delaware, and reports to the Senior Director, Medical Informatics.
Typical Accountabilities: • Serve as a trusted strategic analytics partner to Medical brand heads and therapeutic-area leaders, translating complex healthcare, customer, and operational data into clear recommendations that strengthen business planning, execution, and patient-focused decision-making.
• Lead the design, implementation, and governance of Medical Affairs KPI frameworks, scorecards, and impact-assessment approaches to improve measurement consistency, transparency, and execution excellence.
• Lead advanced analytics supporting healthcare professional and account segmentation, targeting, prioritization, and resource planning, using patient-level, claims, and real-world data where appropriate .
• Identify , evaluate, and operationalize AI-enabled analytics, machine learning, Generative AI, automation, and other emerging approaches that improve the speed, scalability, and quality of insight generation.
• Provide business leadership and strategic direction for key Medical Informatics platforms, including CRM and ATLAS, and partner with IT, Data Science and AI, and product teams to align capabilities with evolving Medical needs.
• Develop and oversee dashboards, self-service analytics, and decision-support products using SQL, Power BI, Databricks, and related technologies, while ensuring outputs are analytically sound, usable, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives across Medical Affairs, Field Medical, Medical Excellence, Commercial Analytics, IT, Data Science and AI, and global partners; represent Medical Informatics in leadership and governance forums.
• Drive adoption of new analytics capabilities and platforms through structured change management, stakeholder engagement, capability building, coaching, and mentoring of junior team members and project resources.
• Manage vendor , contingent-worker , and Global Business Services resources, including work allocation, delivery oversight, performance management, and quality assurance.
• Own vendor-related budgets and support funding requests during planning cycles; lead statements of work, monitor spend, approve invoices, and ensure effective stewardship of analytics investments.
• Apply Agile project-management practices to prioritize demand, manage risks and dependencies, and deliver analytics products and initiatives within agreed scope, quality, and timelines.
• Maintain awareness of relevant advanced analytics and Medical Affairs practices, and identify opportunities to strengthen Medical leadership decision support and organizational analytics maturity.
Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in analytics, data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, public health, life sciences, business, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of analytics experience, including significant experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, healthcare, or life-sciences industry.
• 3-5 years of advanced analytics experience and a record of applying analytics to strategic business questions.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and communicate complex analyses through concise data storytelling and executive-ready recommendations.
• Experience leading cross-functional work, change management, capability building, and Agile project delivery.
• Experience managing vendors, contingent resources, budgets, statements of work, and invoice approvals.
• Experience coaching or mentoring team members; ability to lead direct reports if the role's organization expands.
• Expertise with patient-level data, claims data, and real-world data, including appropriate analytical application and interpretation.
• Hands-on proficiency with SQL, Power BI, and Databricks.
• Strong experience with segmentation, targeting, prioritization, and related customer-analytics methodologies.
• Ability to operate effectively in an onsite, cross-functional environment in Wilmington, Delaware.
Desirable: • Advanced degree such as MBA, MPH, MS, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent.
• Medical Affairs analytics experience and familiarity with Medical strategy, Field Medical, and medical-impact measurement.
• Python proficiency and experience applying machine learning techniques.
• Experience with Generative AI and large language model applications in analytics workflows.
• Experience with CRM or Veeva, Tableau, Snowflake, and statistical modeling.
• Life- sciences analytics consulting or experience in Commercial Analytics, HEOR/RWE, Data Science, or Pharmaceutical Brand Analytics.
• Experience leading large enterprise initiatives.
• Ability to travel occasionally, based on business need .
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $195,000 to $293,000. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
