General Description (Purpose and Function):  The Director for Academic Resources is a key leadership position within the Camner Academic Resource Center responsible for the oversight, management, and continuous enhancement of academic support programs. This position leads a multifunctional team, manages operations and resources, and helps ensure the delivery of high-quality academic support services that promote student success. The director provides leadership, accountability, and professional development for a team of four managers responsible for tutoring, testing, the Office of Disability Services, and the Independent Learning Initiative.

The director is responsible for personnel management, budget oversight, outreach, and assessment efforts that support the effectiveness and impact of academic support services.

The director works closely with the Assistant Dean and Executive Director to support and enhance internal systems and operations within the Camner Center. Responsibilities include the use of data to inform decision-making, assessment of programs and services, implementation of new initiatives, and oversight of daily center operations.

This role requires collaborative work with the Assistant Dean, faculty, staff, and students across the university. The director exercises independent judgment in advancing departmental priorities while ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean and Executive Director of the Camner Center.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervision of Academic Support Programs (40%) • Provide leadership, supervision, training, and performance management for the assistant directors of disability services, tutoring, testing, and the Independent Learning Initiative (ILI). • Provide direction and leadership for each unit in developing goals, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes. • Manage overall staffing and operations, including oversight of hiring, payroll, office coverage, facilities, and expenditures. • Guide managers and staff in developing innovative programs, improving operational effectiveness, and maximizing financial and human resources. • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of student utilization, outcomes, and program effectiveness data. • Review and update Camner Center policies and procedures, and ensure staff are informed and appropriately trained on changes.

Human Resources (25%) • Lead recruitment, selection, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts for professional staff and provide oversight of student employment practices across the department. Works closely with Human Resources and the division’s AVP for Budget and Personnel. • Provide oversight and guidance to assistant directors regarding student employment, onboarding, and personnel practices within their respective units. • Partner with Human Resources to address employee relations matters, including performance concerns, attendance, leave, and other personnel issues. • Ensure personnel records and employment documentation are maintained in accordance with University policies and procedures. • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and support the TALK performance management process through coaching, feedback, and development planning. • Communicate University policies, procedures, HR initiatives, and performance management expectations to departmental staff. • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean to foster employee engagement, team development, and professional growth opportunities. • Coordinate and facilitate monthly staff meetings and departmental training initiatives. • Support onboarding and professional integration efforts for new employees.

Program Support (15%) • Provide oversight of the disability accommodations appeal process.   • Support the planning and coordination of Camner Center-sponsored events, including new student orientations and university open houses.    • Collaborate with various campus partners to support academic review sessions and other initiatives that advance student success and academic support services. • Promote professionalism, consistency, and accuracy of departmental communications, presentations, and service delivery. 

Assessment and Planning (15%) • Review and evaluate program effectiveness, utilizing data and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement. • Support strategic planning efforts through research, assessment, and implementation of departmental priorities and initiatives. • Provide bi-weekly data updates for Division of Student Affairs dashboard for submission to the university’s operational dashboard. • Develop and maintain departmental data and reporting resources to support stakeholder requests, university surveys, presentations, and ongoing communication regarding the work of the Camner Center.

Budget (5%) • Oversee tracking and reporting of departmental expenses, including ASL, CART, commencement support, and operational expenses.      • Work with the Office Manager to ensure compliance with budget allocations and fiscal policies. • Prepare estimates, obtain quotes, and monitor POs for expenses and budget projections. • Work with the Assistant Dean to prepare and submit proposals for the upcoming fiscal year and capital projects.
