Job Summary: As the Digital Product Owner – Unified Catalog within the Rental and Used team at Caterpillar, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of the Unified Catalog platform, primarily driven through PIM (Product Information Management) systems.

You will be responsible for enabling a single, consistent, and scalable product data foundation across digital platforms such as rent.cat.com and Cat Rental Store (CRS 2.0). This includes managing product hierarchies, attributes, taxonomy, and data integration across upstream and downstream systems.

Working closely with engineering, CMS, analytics, marketing, and dealer teams, you will ensure that product data is accurate, complete, and structured to support seamless customer experiences, dealer operations, and digital growth initiatives.   What You Will Do: Product Strategy & Roadmap • Define and drive the product vision and roadmap for Unified Catalog and PIM capabilities • Align catalog initiatives with enterprise digital strategy, content ecosystem (CMS), and Rental & Used business objectives • Identify opportunities to improve product data quality, scalability, and reuse across platforms

Unified Catalog (PIM) Domain Ownership • Product onboarding and enrichment • Attribute definition and standardization • Product classification and taxonomy • Data governance and lifecycle management • Establish and maintain consistent product data models across Rental and Used equipment catalogs • Ensure alignment between PIM, CMS, CPC, and downstream consumer systems

 Catalog Structure & Data Modeling • Product hierarchies (categories, families, variants) • Attribute frameworks (specifications, features, metadata) • Taxonomy and classification standards

Ensure data models support: • PLP/PDP experiences • Search, filtering, and navigation • Localization and multi-region requirements

Platform Integration & Data Flow • CMS (content rendering) • CPC and syndication layers • Supplier and engineering data sources • Ensure accurate and timely data synchronization across platforms • Data mapping • Attribute alignment • System integrations

Data Quality & Governance • Define and enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and completeness requirements • Product onboarding • Data updates and approvals • Attribute and taxonomy changes • Monitor and improve data accuracy, consistency, and coverage across catalogs

Backlog & Delivery Execution • Own and prioritize the Unified Catalog / PIM product backlog • Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and data requirements • Partner with engineering teams to deliver scalable and reliable catalog capabilities • Ensure releases align with business priorities and deliver measurable value

Cross-Functional Collaboration • Engineering (PIM, integration, platform teams) • CMS / content teams • Marketing and SEO teams • Analytics and reporting teams • Dealer and business stakeholders • Partner with analytics teams to enable reporting and visibility into catalog performance and gaps

Performance & Insights • Product data completeness and quality scores • Attribute coverage and consistency • Catalog readiness for digital experiences

Continuous Improvement & Scalability • Catalog scalability and reusability • Data onboarding efficiency (supplier/dealer inputs) • Time-to-market for new products and updates • Support global expansion by enabling multi-region and multi-language catalog capabilities

What You Will Have: • Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. • Software Problem Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products. • Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision. • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
