About this role

Harness is the AI Software Delivery Platform company, led by technologist and entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal (founder of AppDynamics, acquired by Cisco for $3.7B). Harness has raised approximately $570M in funding and is valued at $5.5B, backed by leading investors including Goldman Sachs, Menlo Ventures, IVP, Unusual Ventures, Citi Ventures, and more. As AI accelerates code creation, the real bottleneck has shifted to everything after the code – testing, deployments, application security, reliability, compliance, and cost optimization. Harness brings AI and automation to this “outer loop,” helping teams ship software faster while maintaining security and governance throughout the entire software delivery lifecycle.

Powered by Harness AI and the Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the Harness Platform applies deep context and intelligent automation across the software delivery lifecycle with governance and policy-driven controls embedded throughout the platform.

Over the past year, Harness powered over 185M deployments, 82M builds, 18T flag evaluations, 8M security scans, 9.1B optimized tests, 3T protected API calls, and helped manage $2.8B in cloud spend — enabling customers like United Airlines, Morningstar, and Choice Hotels to accelerate releases by up to 75%, reduce cloud costs by up to 60%, and achieve 10x DevOps efficiency.

With a global team across 26 offices and 27 countries, Harness is shaping the future of AI software delivery — and we’re looking for exceptional talent to help us move even faster.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a DevOps practitioner who builds the runnable proof (pipeline templates, working examples, self-serve tutorials) that lets a developer go from “my pipelines can’t handle AI-generated code” to "ran a real pipeline successfully" without help . If something you built doesn't survive a skeptical engineer poking at it live, it doesn't ship.

The starting point is always the pain point, not the product. Before you build anything, you identify the DevOps/developer problems teams hit most often (flaky pipelines, slow builds, deployment risk, tool sprawl, security noise) and work backward from there to a solution and a narrative that proves Harness solves them. Feature-first content is exactly what this role exists to avoid

About the role

• Start from the pain point, not the product: pick the DevOps/developer problems teams hit most often, then build the working solution and the narrative around it, before deciding what format it becomes

• Build forkable, production-realistic pipeline templates and code samples (CI, CD, GitOps, feature flags) that developers can clone and adapt directly, not superficial demos

• Own the "zero to first pipeline run" self-serve paths for our flagship products, and validate them by having real, unassisted users run through them

• Record short technical walkthroughs and live coding demos of real CI/CD workflows on Harness

• Own the example-repo strategy : the canonical, maintained source of truth

• Keep every sample and tutorial working as the product changes, i.e., stale examples cost more trust than no examples

• Show up in developer communities (GitHub Discussions, Discord, relevant subreddits) and understand developer pain points and answer real questions first, turn the best ones into content second

• Be the technical sign-off on content produced elsewhere on the team. If a use case or demo is wrong, you're the one who catches it before it publishe

About you

• Real, hands-on CI/CD experience : you've built and maintained pipelines in production, not just used one someone else configured

• Comfortable writing YAML, scripting (Bash/Python/Go), and working across git, containers/Kubernetes, and common CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar), familiarity with GitOps/progressive delivery, SAST/SCA, or DORA metrics

• Background as a software engineer or DevOps practitioner : someone who's shipped, not just covered the space

• Can write clearly for other engineers : a tutorial, not just code comments

• Comfortable on camera or mic for short technical content : we'll coach delivery; the technical judgment has to already be there

• Self-directed : you spot the gap in self-serve content and build the fix without waiting on a brief

Nice to have:

• Direct experience with Harness, or a comparable platform

• An existing presence in a developer community, or a personal technical content portfolio

What Success Looks Like in 90 Days

• Forkable pipeline template repos live and linked from blog posts/technical articles for at least two flagship products

• Three completed "zero to first pipeline run" path shipped and validated by a real new user, completing it unaided

• Visible, active presence in at least one developer community surfac

Work Location

• Remote within the U.S
