Role Scope

Habitat Health is hiring its first Data Product Manager to report to the VP of Product. We are looking for a generalist, hands-on, highly technical individual contributor who will own the roadmap for Habitat's data products and infrastructure, setting direction and priorities across the data function. You will own data products end-to-end across the two major Habitat Health pillars that the data team supports:

• Platform & Integrations , including Engineering / IT / Product / Technical & AI vendors

• Dashboards & Reporting , across growth, clinical, financial, and administrative data sets

In this role you will serve as the key bridge between our Product and Data functions, working closely with C-Suite and VP level stakeholders to align on the right product strategy, then rolling up your sleeves and collaborating with our development team to build data products that align with business needs. To succeed as a Data PM, you will need to balance Habitat’s high level business objectives against end user needs and development constraints.

In a given week you'll move across all of the modes below: figuring out what's actually worth building (Discovery), writing specs precise enough for developers to build from without back-and-forth (Specs), running the Jira backlog and sprint process (Delivery), keeping development unblocked (Execution management), mocking up and shipping dashboards (Design, QC, UAT), and triaging the daily stream of ad hoc requests from a diverse set of data customers (Triage).

Core Responsibilities & Expectations for the Role

• Discovery : define the business problem before the build (e.g. is automating LOPMR for CMS audits the right priority this quarter?).

• Build and ship : own the full delivery cycle – specs, Jira/sprint process, dashboard design and sign-off, UAT, and rollout.

• Hands-on data work : use SQL and Git to independently query, validate, and review code, not just manage a backlog.

• Triage : distinguish quick fixes from roadmap work across a steady stream of ad hoc requests.

• AI fluency : use AI tools (e.g. Claude) to accelerate the work and model that fluency for the team.

• Range : move across all Platform & Integrations, Clinical & Operational Services, Regulatory and Enterprise Reporting, helping shape how data product works at Habitat.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 to 5+ years of experience in product management, data/BI, or a closely related field, with a track record of shipping data products, dashboards, or reporting tools end-to-end (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

• Solid understanding of healthcare data ontologies, systems, and information technology

• Proficiency in SQL sufficient to independently query, validate, and troubleshoot data.

• Demonstrated ability to write clear technical specs (metric definitions, cohort logic, source-to-target mapping ,etc.)

• Experience partnering directly with business stakeholders and end users – e.g., operations, compliance, or clinical leadership – to gather requirements, design solutions, and lead user acceptance testing.

• Familiarity with a modern data development stack (e.g., Jira, Git, Power BI, and cloud data platforms such as Databricks or Azure) sufficient to spec, review, and troubleshoot alongside engineering.

• Comfort and enthusiasm using AI tools to enhance productivity in requirements writing, documentation, analysis, and workflow automation.

• Aligns with our purpose and our values, and is excited about living those out in daily practice

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with comfort navigating ambiguity, adapting quickly, and contributing to continuous improvement

• Strong learning and growth mindset, including seeking feedback, engaging in healthy debate and using data and curiosity to inform decisions.

• Acts with integrity and ownership, considering the broader organizational impact, doing the right thing, and following through to deliver results.

Nice to have:

• Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum practices, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and Jira (or similar tools).

• Experience in PACE, VBC, or another regulated, compliance-driven environment, including deep working knowledge of healthcare data ontologies (e.g., CPT, ICD-10, NDC).

• Experience with Epic (Clarity, Caboodle, Chronicles), medical/pharmacy claims data, or FHIR/HL7-based integrations.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

The following statements describe the general nature of work and physical expectations common across roles at Habitat Health. Specific responsibilities may vary by position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
