Job Description: Core Services & Server Operations Task Lead GDIT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Core Services Task Lead to oversee the management and delivery of enterprise-wide IT services for our client at USCENTCOM on the CITS contract. The Lead will be responsible for ensuring outstanding service quality, efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives across multiple critical domains, including Server Infrastructure, Endpoint Security (ESS), E-discovery, Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM), Monitoring (Observability), Storage, and VMware teams. This role will involve leading and coordinating various IT teams, establishing service management best practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet the strategic objectives of USCENTCOM.
HOW A CORE SERVICES TASK LEAD MANAGER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking an experienced Lead with a strong background in coordinating IT service management tasks. The Lead will be responsible for: • Overseeing the delivery of enterprise-wide IT core services, ensuring project goals, timelines, and objectives are met without disruption to ongoing command operations. • Providing technical oversight and direction for the Server Infrastructure team, managing the daily administration, health, and security posture of enterprise Windows and Linux server environments. • Providing direct oversight for the MCM team to ensure effective software deployment and patch management across the enterprise. • Leading the Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) team to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities. • Guiding the Observability (Monitoring Tools) team to ensure high availability and reliability through proactive system performance monitoring. • Directing the Storage team in managing enterprise storage arrays, capacity planning, and maintaining critical backup infrastructure to prevent data loss. • Overseeing the VMware team in deploying, optimizing, and securing the hypervisor cluster architecture supporting enterprise workloads. • Managing the E-discovery support workflow, ensuring forensic data isolation and collection protocols adhere strictly to compliance and search mandates. • Managing service delivery processes, such as incident, problem, change, and configuration management, adhering to ITIL best practices. • Leading and mentoring IT teams responsible for service delivery, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. • Developing and implementing service improvement plans to enhance service quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. • Coordinating and managing service transitions, including service design, build, testing, and deployment, ensuring minimal disruption and risk to the business. • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, understanding their needs, and driving service delivery improvements. • Maintaining and Reporting on Service Level Agreements (SLAs). • Establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) w/ the customer to ensure service quality and efficiency. • Ensuring compliance with security policies, regulations, DoD guidelines, and best practices related to enterprise services.
Additional Responsibilities: • Leading Tiger Teams during high-pressure events to quickly resolve critical infrastructure outages, and providing training to junior Systems Administrators. • Developing and updating comprehensive documentation related to enterprise services, processes, and procedures that aligns with a Cross Function Team (CFT) approach. • Evaluating and recommending new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve service delivery, efficiency, and scalability. • Identifying potential risks affecting core services and developing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project delivery. • Supporting projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the enterprise services environment. • Collaborating with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution. • Monitoring and reporting on service performance, identifying trends, and preparing regular status reports for senior management proposing corrective actions to address potential issues.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Education and/or Certifications: Required: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent experience. • Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (to meet baseline security requirements).
Desired: • Master’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, or a related field. • Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). • ITIL 4 Managing Professional (MP), ITIL v3 Expert certification, or ITIL 4 Foundation. • Advanced Certifications: Microsoft Windows Hybrid Administrator, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Required Skills: • At least 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar leadership role managing enterprise environments. • Demonstrated expertise in IT service management, including experience in leading IT teams and managing enterprise-wide services. • Strong experience with Linux/Unix and Windows systems administration, and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). • Strong understanding of IT service management best practices, processes, and tools (e.g., ITIL, Remedy, and/or Se
