As our new Construction Inspector , you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Role

In this position you will be responsible for overseeing a roadway reconstruction project in York, Maine. Your work will help ensure that oversight is consistent with MDOT procedures and process.

Responsibilities: • Provide Inspector services for MDOT type Construction Inspection Projects • Conduct measurements and documentation of construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents. • Perform basic material testing activities and supplying results for internal and external purposes.  Testing may include Hot Mix Asphalt, Portland Cement Concrete and soils/aggregates • Review Contract Documents • Coordinate with Clients and Contractors • Prepare records for oversight of construction Projects including daily inspection reports, testing protocols and the MDOT system for record keeping • Prepare for and assist in running meetings • Develop and maintain project records throughout construction • Prepare pay requisitions and change orders • Monitor, manage and execute necessary material testing • Prepare project correspondence • Coordinate with utility companies and various agencies of the industry as necessary

Qualifications/Education/Memberships: • Prior state inspection experience preferred • Ability to handle typical Chief/Resident inspector duties • Strong inspection documentation skills • Familiarity with Maine DOT construction specifications and documentation preferred • NETTCP certification with paving experience is required with additional certifications desirable (ACI, Precast Concrete, etc.) • Work may involve working nights, weekends and holidays • Work beyond eight hours per day and beyond 40 hours per week may be required.
