Client: Construction Estimator (Division 5 – Metals & Steel) Location: Remote Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week Time Zone: Eastern Time (ET) Working Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST Compensation: $1,500–$2,500 USD/month, depending on experience Level: Mid-to-Senior Level Experience: 3+ years required

We’re working with a lean specialty steel fabrication company serving commercial and industrial construction projects across the U.S.

The company specializes in Division 5 metals and steel work and is looking for a dedicated Remote Construction Estimator to support its estimating and bidding operations.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator specializing in Division 5 Metals & Steel to manage estimating workflows and quantity takeoffs for commercial and industrial construction projects.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of dedicated estimating experience, strong knowledge of steel and metals, and practical understanding of steel installation and field assembly.

This role is strictly focused on commercial and industrial projects. Residential-only estimating experience will not qualify.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform complete estimating workflows for Division 5 steel and metals projects

- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from commercial and industrial plans, drawings, and specifications

- Review and interpret construction documents to identify project scope and requirements

- Calculate material, labor, fabrication, and steel installation costs

- Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates

- Use Bluebeam, Procore, and Microsoft Excel throughout the estimating process

- Support bid preparation and submission processes

- Coordinate project requirements within established operational workflows

- Identify scope details, quantities, exclusions, and potential estimating risks

- Maintain organized estimating documentation and cost information

- Collaborate with internal teams to clarify project requirements and deliver accurate bids

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE — NON-NEGOTIABLE

- 3+ years of dedicated construction estimating experience

- Strong background specifically in Division 5 Metals & Steel

- Experience with commercial and industrial construction projects

- Residential-only estimating experience does not qualify

- Strong quantity takeoff and construction document interpretation skills

- Proficiency with Bluebeam

- Proficiency with Procore

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills

- Practical knowledge of steel installation and field assembly

- Ability to accurately estimate material, labor, and installation costs

- Fluent English communication skills

- Ability to work full-time, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent technical/construction background

- Knowledge of AISC standards and guidelines

- Experience estimating structural steel and related Division 5 scopes

- Field experience or strong conceptual understanding of steel installation

- Experience working with U.S.-based commercial or industrial contractors, fabricators, or steel companies

- Standard construction estimating and project management tools

STRONG CANDIDATE SIGNALS

- Strong AISC knowledge

- Direct experience estimating structural steel and Division 5 metals

- Hands-on field experience with steel installation or field assembly

- Experience estimating labor and installation requirements, not just material quantities

- Experience independently managing complete estimating workflows

- A strong track record supporting commercial and industrial bidding processes
