Position Summary Responsible for managing all aspects of the property tax compliance process, specializing in complex and centrally assessed property at the state and local levels. The role supports clients across the utility, power generation, communications, data center, oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, and mining industries. This position oversees return preparation and review, develops client relationships, supervises team members, and leads strategy for complex multi-state compliance engagements. Particular emphasis is placed on utility and energy-sector clients, telecommunications infrastructure, and large-scale data center portfolios, including technology assets, network infrastructure, power systems, and other high-value personal property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare and review complex property tax returns and workpapers, including centrally assessed, utility-specific, and complex personal property filings. • Oversee preparation of unitary and multi-state filings for utility, communications, power generation, and data center clients. • Review workpapers and returns prepared by team members and provide technical guidance. • Advise on asset classification and reporting for utility, communications, and data center property, including generation, transmission, distribution, network, and technology infrastructure assets. • Evaluate and apply state-specific utility apportionment methodologies and complex sourcing requirements. • Review reconciliation of property tax returns to fixed asset systems and, where applicable, regulatory filings (e.g., FERC or state commission reports). • Review and analyze technology asset inventories, including servers, storage equipment, network infrastructure, power distribution equipment, and other data center personal property. • Perform industry and economic research, including utility, telecommunications, and data center sector trends and valuation considerations. • Manage property tax calendars and ensure timely filings and payments. • Oversee tracking of notices, assessments, audits, and tax bills. • Review funding requests and ensure proper cash management for client accounts. • Manage client relationships, including utility, energy, telecommunications, and data center portfolios. • Lead or support new client implementations, including large-scale utility, communications, and data center engagements. • Participate in business development, including scoping work for complex compliance, consulting, and appeal engagements. • Lead or support appeals, valuation discussions, and negotiations for utility, data center, communications, and centrally assessed properties. • Represent clients during audits, informal reviews, and formal appeals proceedings.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Mentor, develop, and train team members. • Collaborate with other service lines to support shared clients and multidisciplinary engagements. • Assist leadership with strategic initiatives, process improvements, and special projects. • Support recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding activities.

Education and Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field. • 5+ years of property tax experience. • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience. • Experience managing utility, energy, communications, data center, or centrally assessed property tax engagements strongly preferred. • Strong understanding of utility asset structures, fixed asset accounting, technology infrastructure, and apportionment methodologies used in centralized filings. • Experience with data center property tax compliance, including reporting of servers, networking equipment, storage systems, and power infrastructure preferred. • Familiarity with FERC or state utility regulatory reporting. • Experience managing multi-state compliance engagements and complex client portfolios. • Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills. • Experience with property tax software (PTMS, OneSource, PowerPlan, or similar systems). • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills. • Ability to meet travel requirements. • Valid driver's license.
